This is a breathtaking space that our family has poured many decades and multiple generations into. We are surrounded by jungle, with a freshwater stream running through the entire property and unobstructed mountain views. If you’re especially sensitive to mosquitos, bugs, geckos, free roaming chickens or other elements to be expected in nature, this might not be the place for you. Waimanalo is a small agricultural town filled with nurseries, horse stables, and a high concentration of Hawaiian homes. It remains mostly undeveloped and authentic, and we aim to keep it that way. Outsiders do not often get the opportunity to stay back here, but we welcome respectful travelers looking for an authentic experience who can appreciate this privilege. While nestled against the mountains, we're just a five minute drive from the beach. We are fifteen minutes from Kailua town, where you'll find several grocery stores, shops, and restaurants. This is a working farm. While we are very hospitable, we are not in the business of hospitality. I am happy to accommodate travelers, but I am not here at your beck and call. If that is the experience you are seeking, I think you would be happier elsewhere. We appreciate all of your bookings, and profits go directly back into farm infrastructure and new fruit trees. As all the land here is born of lava, many moons ago this land began to host plants and critters. Long after, it was sculpted and a number of families and farmers have contributed to what we have today. An abundance of fruit and vegetables within sight of the ocean. Peaceful breezes and warming sun make for unparalleled tranquility. Today the land still gives back to its visitors. Come recharge. As this is agricultural lands, there are many critters. Dogs, chickens, pheasants, peacock, mongoose, and many birds. Tge invasive coqui frog is annoying to some and calming to others. The micro climate here swings from warm and dry to wet quickly. Best to always prepare for rain. There is snorkeling, beaches, local food, Cafe, BBQ, poke, fish-n-chips, grocery, Sunday farmers market and hiking nearby. It is peaceful here, but also an active farming community. As an organic farm, we put alot of effort into soil building and as such, there are soft places that will be damaged by the weight of a vehicle. Staying on the driveway is best. We will guide you to where you need to go. Our road is paved, but bumpy. Any vehicle will make it without damage if driven slowly. 1 to 4mph tops. *Be sure to avoid the camper rental companies that restrict certain roads. Aloha and have a great day.

Solitude is available for those who seek silence and immersion in nature and a number of state and county beaches are within a forty minute drive. This is a great base location to enjoy activities on the south side of Big Island, including Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, Papakolea (Green Sand Beach), Punalu’u (Black Sand Beach), and Ka Lae (South Point). Break up your island wide cruise and spend more time in scenic Ka’ū, one of the last bastions of old Hawai’i. Mutiny Farms is 100% off-grid. There is currently no power available at either site. You will need to bring flashlights and rechargeable battery packs if you require any portable power. The property is about a 15 minute drive to Ocean View town center, and about an hour to Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. Ocean View is the only community between Captain Cook and Volcano with restaurants, grocery stores, and other amenities. There are dogs, cats, and peacocks living on the farm. There are a variety of native and food plants growing on the property. At this elevation, the climate can be quite chilly, so please come prepared for the weather. Waimanalo is a small agricultural town filled with nurseries, horse stables, and a high concentration of Hawaiian homes. It remains mostly undeveloped and authentic, and we aim to keep it that way. Outsiders do not often get the opportunity to stay back here, but we welcome respectful travelers looking for an authentic experience who can appreciate this privilege. While nestled against the mountains, we're just a five minute drive from the beach. We are fifteen minutes from Kailua town, where you'll find several grocery stores, shops, and restaurants. Dogs, chickens, pheasants, peacock, mongoose, and many birds. Tge invasive coqui frog is annoying to some and calming to others. The micro climate here swings from warm and dry to wet quickly. Best to always prepare for rain. There is snorkeling, beaches, local food, Cafe, BBQ, poke, fish-n-chips, grocery, Sunday farmers market and hiking nearby. It is peaceful here, but also an active farming community. As an organic farm, we put alot of effort into soil building and as such, there are soft places that will be damaged by the weight of a vehicle. Staying on the driveway is best. We will guide you to where you need to go. Our road is paved, but bumpy. As a working farm, we do have insects and geckos hanging around. So, it's not uncommon to encounter them. Also, we often have visits from wild pigs that come down from the mountain, so you may see them as well. Although we are certain you will love this place, please keep in mind, it takes a lot of hard work to maintain it. Thus, you will probably hear farm equipment and activities buzzing about (typically on the weekends). And, we want you to respect, love, and care for this place as much as we do by leaving it better than you found it.

Sleep under the stars on the slopes of the world’s largest active volcano, Mauna Loa. Located at 3700’ on a 250 year old lava flow, enjoy camping in a native forested lot that is accessible by 2WD vehicle. This is a great base location to enjoy activities on the south side of Big Island, including Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, Papakolea (Green Sand Beach), Punalu’u (Black Sand Beach), and Ka Lae (South Point). Break up your island wide cruise and spend more time in scenic Ka’ū, one of the last bastions of old Hawai’i. Mutiny Farms is 100% off-grid. There is currently no power available at either site. You will need to bring flashlights and rechargeable battery packs if you require any portable power. The property is about a 15 minute drive to Ocean View town center, and about an hour to Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. Ocean View is the only community between Captain Cook and Volcano with restaurants, grocery stores, and other amenities. There are dogs, cats, and peacocks living on the farm. There are a variety of native and food plants growing on the property. At this elevation, the climate can be quite chilly, so please come prepared for the weather. We are happy to provide guided adventures in your personal or rental vehicle, or provide information to enhance your adventure. Mae is the most wonderful host! She is kind, helpful, and very responsive. Her property is beautiful and perfectly situated between the national Park and the amenities of Pahoa and Hilo. Hike all day or hop into town for groceries and the zoo. The kids loved playing volleyball, disk golf, and catching little fish in her pond. 100% would stay with her again!

Robert was very communicative with directing us to the site and where to stay once we arrived and where amenities were located! We liked being on the property for the night and really loved having a nice, very clean bathroom and shower! We were the only ones on the property that evening but you might have neighbors close if there were multiple groups staying at one time! This spot was a great choice for us in this southern area of the island!

We loved this campsite! The view from the landscape was stunning. We went with a Campervan and the directions to the place and where to park were super clear. Is very silent and you can hear a lot of birds singing, it was beautiful. Is not just a place to spend the night, is a place to enjoy. The bathroom looks like is really taken care off and the shower has hot water. We would go back for sure and we recommend it!

The property was undeveloped but that made it fairly private and more immersive. We saw a lot of birds, which we loved. Colin was very communicative which was helpful in finding our spot and enjoying our time there. If you’re looking for a spot to just sleep for a night, this is a great choice! But if you want more amenities, it might be best to look elsewhere.

Beautiful location and ample space for various types of camping. It’s peaceful and great for stargazing on a clear night. We had a camper van in the great lawn which was spacious and gorgeous. The hosts are helpful and have put together all the useful info you need. There’s flushable toilets which is always a bonus but it’s a great place to stay, and the drive from Honolulu is breathtaking, through mountains and along the coast.

We had a beautiful view from our campervan parking pad. We arrived just at dark on a Christmas Eve. The drive in is well paved, though moderately bumpy. Because we caught some rain overnight, I was concerned about traction the next morning for our departure. The pad and driveway presented no problem. We were a close distance to a fire ring and porta potty. The restroom was very clean.

This is actually my second review of this place after being disconnected by some technical error with the app, but this place had such an impact on my soul, that I’d spend an entire week, redoing it until accepted and entered by the app properly. The warm loving style of the couple that was filling in while the owner was away was unreal. The husband, who once fought a grizzly bear. (No B.S.) was a gentle giant and his beautiful wife, with her care of my family enjoying ourselves it’s like nothing I’ve ever experienced. I was also blessed with the opportunity to get to know one of the best landscape groundskeepers in the state of Hawaii who keeps an incredibly large property looking so spectacular with every inch giving you the opportunity to actually experience firsthand, the true beauty of Hawaii every travel guide magazine attempts to create. The hosts creativity in having different themed campsites was incredible and puts Disney to shame. It was fun for my entire family, and if they wont allow me to live there and work, then i will go back every weekend if my wife will allow.

We spent one night on Bob’s beautiful property and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The place was very peaceful, we felt completely safe, and having a bathroom with a shower was a big plus. Bob and his wife were wonderful hosts. They even picked a fresh orange for us from their tree and gave us so many great tips for our stay on the Big Island. Without Bob’s prediction, we probably would have missed the incredible volcano eruption. Thank you— you truly made our time on the Big Island something very special.
