Marys is just a ferry ride away.
Anyone who’s got Georgia on their mind will delight in the stunning coastal landscapes while camping near St. Marys. Accessible by a 45-minute ferry ride, Cumberland Island National Seashore is a must-see stop. Bring bikes with wider tires to ride unpaved trails, or cruise the beach between Sea Camp and Dungeness dune crossing. Then, stay at hike-in tent sites that follow Leave No Trace principles. Amenities include fire rings, potable water spigots, and flush toilets. For a more comfortable camping trip on the mainland, head about 20 minutes north of St. Marys to Crooked River State Park. Pull-through RV sites provide full hookups with 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service, comfort stations, and picnic tables. Glamping opportunities await here at a fully-furnished cottage rental, complete with a kitchen, heating, air conditioning, satellite TV, and up to four beds. Wherever base camp is, take advantage of easy access to the river from the on-site boat ramp, or go saltwater fishing for red drum and spotted sea trout.
