We just retired from Active Duty Air Force! My ancestors have owned the land our NC cabins sit on since 1836. In fact, my mother grew up there after my Grandfather returned from WWII when there was no electricity and the outhouse was a bench over the creek. I grew up hiking the mountains with my brothers and our BB guns and my Uncle Frank at our family reunions. In 2005 he deeded us a parcel of land and we built our first cabin - Smawlie. We love to come to the cabin and Hike the trails on our own property, and of course, the world famous ones that join them, namely the Bartram and the Appalachian Trails. As you explore the lake, the trails, the rivers, and the mountain roads you'll see why our ancestors settled here. In 2018 - we bought the remainder of Uncle Frank's land - and in his honor built our second cabin - Frank's Landing. Also in that year I started managing my brother Bill's cabin. When we were stationed in Alaska for 6 heavenly years - we purchased a remote parcel of property and have slowly begun to develop it. We just completed building our cabin there. Thanks for reading this little tid bit about us. We love to explore the mountains and are excited to share our cabins with you.

The host is a good human. The site is tucked away from road and offers plenty of privacy. It's a pretty area. I'd definitely stay there again. Convenient for anyone traveling or just looking for a quick rural getaway. Definitely recommend.

This was a decent cheap spot to park for a night. The grass was more overgrown in the pictures, so I didn’t explore much, as there were tons of mosquitoes/ticks. The big plus was great cell signal, and the sunrise view!

We watched the Sun set and Full Moon rise from our campsite as the firefly’s came out in the meadows. The campsite was perfect for our needs* quiet, peaceful and private. We awoke to sounds of fish jumping in the pond. Our hosts provided wood AND kindling for our campfire. Thank you for that!

Such a beautiful site - we fell asleep watching the fireflies in the branches of the pines and listening to the frogs singing in the little pond, and woke up to so many birds singing and the sun rise. Would definitely stay here again!

Weekend Trip to Nantahala: Cabins & Campsites

Our family of 5 (two kids under 5, two adults and a dog) enjoyed our adventure on the property. We booked alongside our siblings and their family of 5. Between our large tent, gear and other family, we took up the entire space. The fire pits and tables were very helpful. We did a little research prior to our stay but could have done a better job mapping out directions to attractions before loosing cell service. Luckily, we took screen shots of the instructions from Michael which really helped. We spent our free time exploring the property, venturing to the NOC for a day and exploring the areas around the marina. The weather started out cool but warmed up as the weekend progressed. We had two nights of rain but dry weather during the day. We used our all wheel drive to get all the way to the site and it worked great.

Had booked Majestic Maple site but Peaceful Pines was available so Kyle offered it because it better suited our camping rig (converted 6x10 cargo trailer). Beautiful country setting at a nice pond overlooking a valley landscape. A slice of rural America in God's country.
