Flying Pig Animal Sanctuary

In 2003, we moved onto our 10-acre family property which had previously been a hog farm before my family purchased it when I was a small child. We began in 2014 as a little hobby farm lovingly called Hippie Chick N Farm with a couple pet goats and some chickens for eggs. Within the month we were asked to rescue an infant pot bellied pig, Ollie, knowing nothing about pigs we had to do a lot of research and found there was an incredible need for homes for unwanted pet pigs. A few months later we rescued a female to be Ollie's friend who turned out to be pregnant and had 6 babies on Christmas Eve, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet & Cupid. Dasher, being the first born and only spotty baby of the litter became Dasher the Flying Pig, the future sanctuary namesake. From then we continued to rescue pigs when contacted and officially gained 501c3 charitable status in 2019 under the name Flying Pig Animal Sanctuary at Hippie Chick N Farm, Inc. We are now home to over 100 beautiful animal friends. This includes pigs, chickens, goats, ducks, dogs, cats, fish, guinea pigs, peafowl, Jordy the Torty, a 100 lb African Sulcata Tortoise and a parrot in a pear tree. We have a small organic garden that we are expanding and we are working to become self sustainable, we compost and recycle and live a kind and compassionate lifestyle. Come pitch your tent on our peaceful, 10-acre farm sanctuary, which is home to over 100 rescued animals.  You'll have access to a community fire pit, electricity for charging electronics, running hot/cold water including a semi private outdoor shower, a great view of the sunset and stars and you can book a guided tour on the 2 miles of wooded trails located on our adjacent 90 acre wildlife preserve.  Plus, we have many rescue animals who enjoy socializing with guests and you can book a private tour to hear their stories and get an up close and personal animal experience.

We are a grassroots, family run, vegan 501c3 non-profit organization.  So when you stay with us, purchase extras from us, or take a tour with us, your money goes directly to the lifelong care of our beautiful and deserving residents. 

**Please note,

First and foremost, this property is our beloved home, and the home of our animal residents. Many animals came from situations of neglect and abuse and may not want to socialize. If an animal comes up to you looking for affection, by all means give it to them if you so desire. But otherwise please respect their choice to not be social.

Ed and Bernices Fish camp

Ed and Bernices fish camp is located st 15810 NW county road 120.  Hosford, Florida 32334.  We kept the name of the camp.  It is a historical site and has a long history.  Everyone in this small community has stayed or put their boat in at this camp one time or another.  We look forward to you visiting and enjoying your stay. Come and check it out.Learn more about this land:You'll have beautiful scenery! You'll be in the middle of The Ochlockonee river and forest. Plenty of hiking and natural walks, take a walk to the big sand bar to go for a swim. You'll find otters, birds, and gators surrounding you. A real Old Florida getaway! Find woods, wild life in a secluded location.  Close to I10 to commute to the surrounding towns for great restaurants, etc.

The Outside Inn

Planted pine, orchard, untouched wetlands, walking trails, planted fields for wildlife viewing. Quiet and peaceful escape. Close to several state parks, including Torreya, Three rivers, Seminole, Florida Caverns, and Lake Talaquin forest. At this time I can host 1 RV or camper with full hook ups, 3 RV sites with power, water and 1 boondock (no power/water) site but large enough for an off-grid/self-sustainable RV. I'm always happy to show folks around and share the story. 

Please note: During the rainy season the grass may get a bit long at times. You can also expect to experience a wide variety of agricultural activities, outside of quiet hours of course. 

Born out of a dream that started 10 years ago when I acquired 40 acres of forgotten and unmanaged rural woods. Having dug right in with the help of the Florida Forestry Service, FWC, IFAS, NRCS and a very knowledgeable private forester; we developed a conservation management plan to restore it to its native state. The neighboring land became available and happily added another 40, I've learned so much on this amazing journey. 25K pines and a great deal of sweat equity later, it is time to share and encourage others to join in on the conservation efforts and make sure it's around for future generations.

RV site self contained

All Campers must sign a liability waiver as a condition of booking with us. We are a working tree farm and some areas are not open to Campers. Campers agree to stay in designated areas.
