By the Pond...

12 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents33 acres · Ruskin, FL
Stay by a lovely pond on 33 acre fruit and ornamental tree nursery property with great vibes. Located near I-75 just 20 miles South of Tampa, 35 miles east of Saint Petersburg, 35 miles North of Sarasota, 2 hours West of Orlando. This property is home to a farm/nursery operation and has a large pond on the west side. The pond is Spring-fed at the headwaters of Marsh Branch Creek which begins at our property and flows West about five miles in to Tampa Bay. Approximately 33 private acres allows for plenty of space between our campsites. Site is loaded with hundreds of fruit trees Lychee, Mango, Starfruit, Papaya, Guava), and thousands of banana plants. Fishing can be great, wildlife and bird watching too. Fenced and gated for safety, this old historic nursery property has good vibes and plenty to offer. Until you see it - you really may not understand. Parts of property are wide open, other areas are rugged and difficult to walk through including some wetland areas. The nursery has plenty of trees, and some fields -the large pond is surrounded by cattails and marsh/wetlands and has fish (Bass, Tilapia, Sunfish, Catfish). Several species of wildlife have been seen on the property. We think the property is lovely, and definitely want you to enjoy your camping experience!

Orange River Getaway With Kayaks

2 sites · RVs, Tents5 acres · Fort Myers, FL
Welcome to our 5 acre property tucked away in Buckingham Rural Community. You will have direct river access! My family fell in love with this property when we rescued it from disrepair, it was once known as "Harmony Gardens" and we invite you to join us bringing back the glory. Our property is home to all kinds of wildlife, we have cardinals, bluejays, barred owls, herons, swallow-tailed kites, warblers, huge pileated woodpeckers, and if you wander to the water you may see an alligator or manatee depending on the season. Orange River is the river that passes through the highly rated Manatee Park, we have kayaks and paddleboards available for your pleasure at an additional cost. We have typical comfort restaurants such as Cracker Barrel and Waffle house nearby but I would suggest local flavors of Buckingham Farms and Rum Bucket Grill. I-75 is about 10 minutes away so although we are tucked away, most of FL isnt too far for a day's trip.

Ranch camping near Venice guide

Overview

Nestled along Florida’s Gulf Coast, Venice lets campers choose their own adventure. Beachgoers will flock to Venice Beach and its surrounding shores. Here, coral reefs, colorful fish, and shark teeth create a snorkeler’s and scuba diver’s paradise. Not far from the city, intrepid explorers can access the Myakka River from both its namesake state forest and state park. Check-in to an RV campsite along the coast. Or, book a tent hideaway between the palm trees. No matter where you stay in Sarasota County, you’ll love camping. Venice, Florida offers just as much on land as it does by sea.

Where to go

Myakka State Forest

Southeast of Venice, Myakka State Forest creates the ultimate ambiance for campers. The forest’s palmetto-surrounded flatwoods set the scene for an exciting—and unique—getaway. You can hike, bike, and ride horses across more than 40 miles of trails. Meanwhile, avid adventures will enjoy the campsite check-in process. You’ll reach Myakka State Forest’s backcountry campsites by hiking, canoeing, or kayaking to your Florida campground.

Myakka River State Park

Continue your tour of the Myakka River at Myakka River State Park. You’ll not only catch a glimpse of the trademark river, but may spot a variety of wildlife, from osprey to alligators to turtles. The river runs through a range of landscapes, so you can easily admire and engage with Florida’s astounding biodiversity. Keep both your bathing suit and hiking boots handy for any and all spontaneous adventures.

Oscar Scherer State Park

Not far from Venice, Oscar Scherer State Park changes with the seasons. Birdwatchers have the best chance to spot bald eagles in the winter months, while fishermen should test their luck in the summer season. From your RV campsite with water and electric hookups, you can meander across 15 miles of trails, either by foot or bike pedal. No matter where you look—at the sky, in the water, or at nature—you’re guaranteed an incredible view.

When to go

Who doesn’t love sunshine in the wintertime? Unfortunately, everyone has the same idea and flocks to Florida’s coast during the cold months. Summertime, however, comes with hurricane threats and scorching temperatures. For the city’s least crowded—but still temperate—climate, avoid the two extremes. Fall and spring maintain ideal hiking weather, a reduced chance of storms, and crowds at their most bearable.
