Taste of Old Florida

13 sites · RVs, Tents10 acres · Palm City, FL
A small but unique piece of land that was given to a family in the 1920s by the Florida Railroad Company. It stayed in the family until we purchased it. It is unique because the surrounding area does not have much tree coverage. This is due to the ground underneath, which is a vein of grey marl. This is why the area is called the Allapattah (an Indian word for Alligator) Flats. We are hoping that our county stays the way it is so people will know what Old Florida really looks like. Minutes from I-95, but surrounded by the Allapattah Flats Wildlife Management Preserve. Located on Martin Hwy, which was recently designated as a Florida Scenic Hwy. Fifteen minutes to Stuart and thirty minutes to West Palm Beach, a world away from the hustle and bustle. We realize that people also love Florida for Disney and tropical paradises but if that is what you want than this may not be your kind of place.

Park like setting with Lake view

4 sites · RVs, Tents1 acre · Port Salerno, FL
Greetings Hipcampers! Thank you for considering your tent camping adventures on this site, we look forward to welcoming you! Here’s some information about the general area. If you don’t need it, just skip down to the “About us” section. Our property is located in the Sailfish capital of the country in the heart of Historic Port Salerno/Stuart Florida. World class deep sea fishing, boating, and some of the finest seafood restaurants on the east coast are less a mile away. We’re just 5 miles from downtown Stuart on the Inland waterway that offers a lovely walkable downtown where you will find a theater, unique art studios, interesting and unique craft and clothing shops, and numerous restaurants offering everything from vegan and vegetarian options, to pizza, steak, and local seafood. If you’re looking for fast food franchises in the downtown areas, you’ll need to look elsewhere! Only 11 miles from Jonathan Dickinson State Park known for it's expansive scrub and wildlife habitat, you will find excellent hiking, birding, and great bicycling (on and off road) trails as well as kayaking adventures through the mangroves. Kayak and bicycle rentals are available near the launch site. Daily excursions are also available from the launch site to the infamous legend Trapper Nelson’s hideaway. A must do for adventurous types who appreciate legends and creative off grid living. We are nestled in a bird paradise in a quiet park-like setting located on the edge of a beautiful Lake at the end of a dead end road. The location offers a natural walking path with 3 foot bridges around the lake. Our property is off the beaten path but has very easy accessibility to all major roads including interstate 95. Grocery stores, Walmart, gas stations all within a mile or two. Our camp sites provide you a peaceful stay while still being close to all you seek. This location makes for a great stop over or destination spot. About us: Please note: This is a tent camp site only. We can not accommodate a truck camper, a pull behind, Van camper, or anything other thing than a ground pitched tent. What you can expect to find at our listing: The surface of the tent site is mostly flat with a mix of grassy and sandy type soil usually with some covering of native pine needles. Our 1/2 acre property is naturally-forested with several towering eastern slash pines and palm trees, and several fruit trees. Guests will wake in the morning to the lovely site and peaceful sounds of the mostly year round residents including pileated & red-bellied woodpeckers, black vultures, raccoons, egrets, ibis, hawks, quaker parrots, herons, bluejays, grackles, crows, lizards, mourning doves, gray squirrels, owls, hawks, and occasional sightings of iguanas and turtles. We’ve yet to see an alligator here! Let us know if you spot one! Nights tend to be dark and quiet by the lake offering a world away from the hustle and bustle with minimal traffic noise. A train can sometimes be heard in the distance. We are family and pet friendly provided your pet is too! Please be respectful and responsible in bringing along a leash and your own pet waste bags. Please pack out what you pack in. There is either a porta potty or a compost toilet near the tent site. Please be aware it is a compost porta-potty type and is located within its own small tent structure. Be sure you understand that this is definitely not a flush toilet. We don’t want you to be disappointed. You will be asked to cover your deposits with the sawdust and mulch material provided. electricity for charging small devices is available along with city/potable water from a hose located about 50' from the campsite. Please, no generators. There is no wifi but cell reception tends to be very good. A fire pit located about 50’ from the camp site may be available for your enjoyment depending upon current fire conditions and restrictions. Please advise host in advance if you plan to use the fire pit, and please remember to bring your own firewood! Bundles can be purchased from a residence around the corner, and kindling can be gathered from around the site. We do not currently have an outdoor kitchen or cooking utensils so please remember to bring your own supplies. Smoking is permitted. Please advise host in advance so that we can provide an appropriate container to safely extinguish cigarettes. Please be considerate of neighbors when enjoying your music. Thank you! Check in time is about 2pm but very flexible depending upon availability. Check out is noon unless prior arrangements are made. We will happily answer any questions or concerns you may have upon arriving and then we’ll respect your privacy and solitude unless you desire more interaction. We look forward to your arrival! South Florida Permaculture Farm

3 sites · Tents5 acres · West Palm Beach, FL
Embracing Nature's Classroom: A Journey into the Heart of Agroforestry In the heart of our bustling city lies a hidden gem—a five-acre agroforestry site seamlessly integrated with a wildlife refuge, offering a sanctuary for both humans and nature. This unique haven challenges traditional farming norms, embracing permaculture principles and providing a holistic education on sustainable living. The Agroforestry Oasis: This agroforestry site thrives as a harmonious blend of natural elements. The farm, rich with diverse flora, serves as a testament to the possibility of cultivating food in harmony with nature. With a natural pond reflecting the sky and a cypress forest providing shade, the site is a living example of how agricultural practices can coexist with the environment. Wildlife Refuge: Surrounded by a city environment, the wildlife refuge within the agroforestry site stands as a testament to the resilience of nature amidst urbanization. Birds, insects, and small mammals find solace in this haven, creating a unique urban wildlife ecosystem. The refuge highlights the importance of preserving green spaces within cities for biodiversity and ecological balance. Permaculture Education: Classes on permaculture gardening and natural cooking form the core of the educational experience offered on the site. Participants learn not just about cultivation but also about the interconnectedness of ecosystems. These classes empower individuals to apply permaculture principles in their own lives, fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment. Campfire Gatherings: At the heart of the agroforestry site lies a community space, where campfires flicker at individual camping sites and merge into a grand communal fire. This space fosters a sense of community, encouraging shared experiences and conversations under the open sky. It exemplifies the essence of coming together to appreciate and learn from nature. Nature's Unfiltered Beauty: Unlike manicured gardens, this facility proudly stands in its natural state. The untamed beauty of the landscape contributes to the existence of a diverse array of wildlife. Visitors are invited to witness nature as it is, fostering a deep appreciation for the raw, unfiltered beauty that often goes unnoticed in our modern, structured world. Invitation to Experience: This isn't just a description; it's an invitation. Come, explore, and experience the magic of this agroforestry site for yourself. Feel the connection between nature and sustainable living, learn about permaculture, and revel in the simplicity of a campfire under the stars. Witness the beauty that emerges when humans and nature coexist harmoniously. In this city oasis, the agroforestry site isn't just a piece of land; it's a living, breathing classroom where the lessons are taught by the wind in the trees, the rustling of leaves, and the vibrant life that thrives in every corner. It's time to appreciate nature and learn about how it works, not just as observers but as active participants in the dance of life. Are you ready to embark on this journey into the heart of agroforestry? Come see for yourself. Nature is waiting to share its secrets with you.

FireFly Farm

1 site · RV5 acres · Indiantown, FL
A small family owned and operated 5 acre pasture raised poultry farm. This is a working farm that sells poultry meat and eggs to the local community. If you have ever wondered what it might be like to live on a poultry farm -- this is it! Depending on the time of year there may also be bee hives located on the far back or very front of our pastures. Due to biosecurity measures you do not have full access to roam the entire farm and pastures. However, the RV spot is placed with a view of most farm activities. Our farm is home to free roaming hens, roosters, geese, quail, guinea fowl, ducks, turkeys and pigs. We have 4 livestock guardian dogs that keep our animals safe from predators. Both the birds and the dogs do make noise, so please keep that in mind. It's all part of farm life ! While we love animals and would love to invite your pets to stay, due to the nature of our guardian dogs we do not allow any pets. There is grated spot for your RV with electric, water and septic hook-ups. Our farm is in operation 7 days a week and there may be poultry processing that is completed during your stay.
