Tehachapi RV camping is all about adventure and mountain air.
Situated in the Tehachapi Mountains, not far from Bakersfield, Tehachapi is the gateway to Tomo-Kahni State Historic Park, which preserves the remains of a Kawaiisu (Nuwa) village. The park is only accessible by guided tours, which take place on weekends during the spring and fall. For campers stopping through on a roadtrip, there are quite a few RV parks in and around Tehachapi, both along Highway 58 and in the surrounding mountains. Many ranches south of town serve as RV-friendly Hipcamps, plus tons of public RV campgrounds can be found in the nearby Sequoia National Forest and further north in Sequoia National Park—many accommodate smaller and mid-sized RVs, though some are only open seasonally. Some are first-come, first-served while others open for reservations anywhere from one to six months in advance.
