Cabins in Tahoe guide

Overview

Dazzling Lake Tahoe is what draws most visitors to this stretch of the Sierra Nevada, but it’s the additional attractions of the greater Tahoe region that keep them coming back, with many options for a cabin getaway. In South Lake Tahoe, rent a cabin near the lakeshore for boating, jet-skiing, and relaxing on a sandy beach, or head to Truckee, which boasts a lively downtown scene and sits near both the Truckee River and Donner Lake, a smaller lake that’s great for swimming and paddling. In Tahoe National Forest, consider a rustic cabin campground near the South Yuba River for Whitewater rafting, or check out the many small lakes and trails of Eldorado National Forest off Highway 50. In the winter, book a cozy A-frame near the slopes of Kirkwood Mountain Resort for a ski vacation. Most cabins can be rented year-round, but some cabin resorts and campgrounds are open in summer only.
