We loved staying at Anita’s land! It was wonderfully secluded, and I loved being able to let my dog run around off-leash without worrying about bothering anyone. The dome was very comfortable, and the décor was absolutely adorable. I especially appreciated having an electric kettle in the dome so I didn’t have to go outside at night just to boil water for tea.
Although it was cloudy and we couldn’t see the stars, we still enjoyed a beautiful view of the city lights. As a solo traveler, I was a little concerned about safety at first, but my hyper-vigilant dog and the security cameras helped me feel much more at ease. Anita’s directions and instructions were clear and detailed, and I had no trouble finding the place. We’ll definitely be back!

Had a great time. Outdoor kitchen was very well stocked. Pool was refreshing and clean. It was quiet in the evening. Beautiful views. Road is pretty rough but as described. Would visit again.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Buddha Cave. It was serene and cozy, with beautiful views. It was easy to bring a up a simple camp set up for the cave. Everyone I met was friendly and helpful, giving an overview of the property and areas to explore. I’ll definitely be back anytime I want to camp out in the high desert area.

Loved me stay here! Especially watching sunset from the hot tub! All the hangout spaces are awesome and the Dew Drop trailer is a cutie.

Robert and Shayna were super friendly and accommodating. We booked overlook site, which had picnic table, tonns of space, no neighbors and incredible views. Stars, and sunrise were incredible.
Very peaceful, clean well taken care of properly. If you're looking for a peaceful retreat look no further. Had 5g which was a secret plus.

Weekend Trip to High Desert Protocol
I have been to a lot of amazing places in my life, many of them in the desert. High Desert Protocol is one of my new favorites and I look forward to getting back there soon. I would highly recommend Tao's place for anyone looking for a unique experience where one can relax and unwind in an amazing natural setting enhanced by a creative visionary.

Brought my friends in mid-December to do "A Cowboy Christmas" trip and the weather was great! We didn't manage to eat at Pappy & Harriet's because they had a show that night, but that's on us for not going earlier. They really liked Red Dog Saloon anyway. We also watched the shootout performance by the Stampede on Saturday and enjoyed the art gallery and petting zoo on Sunday. Pioneer Town seemed pretty queer-friendly too, which was a nice surprise.
Great for those who want to check out the bars and music venues within walking distance. Don't go if loud music and the sounds of drunk people in the middle of the night will bother you. If you do want to avoid the people noise, camp in the middle, because there's a bar and bar parking lot on each side of the campground. So far I've only seen other campers in their vans/trailers, probably only there to see a concert, which this seems like the perfect place for.
The campsites are small (fit 1 large tent or 2 small ones), but they haven't been busy the 2 times I've come, so we were able to spread out a little bit past our 1 site. Bathrooms were clean but only 1 sink was working - to be fair, we didn't communicate that to the host, so they might just not know. There's a communal BBQ too, but we just used our propane stove.

Wonderful place. The boulder/yoga deck location is surrounded by an incredible landscape of boulders, which make for a solitary experience as well as endless opportunity for exploration. There is also a community space not too far from the campsite with some wonderful amenities. This camp is located in a small community, and being able to partake in and meet the community is a huge plus of staying here, everyone was so welcoming and great to talk to.
Highly recommend for anyone looking for some time away/connection into nature⭐️

Pioneertown corrals was a perfect spot to camp when seeing a show at Pappy & Harriet's. We were able to walk a couple minutes and were there. When we arrived I checked in with Jim , who was camp host and general store cashier that night. I told him why we were there and he vwelcomed us and gave us the lay of the land and offered us some pointers like " Red Dog saloon for breakfast and bloody mary" and check out the baby goats at the petting zoo. Both were great. The campground doesn't offer amenities other than a bathroom with a flushing toilet and a couple outhouses, but it's flat, clean and accessible to all Pioneertown has to offer. We have a small self contained rv, I would stay there again.

Where to go
San Bernardino Surrounds
For a quick nature excursion near San Bernardino, check out Box Springs Mountain Reserve Park, where you can get a panoramic view of the area from a 3,000-plus-foot peak. Chino Hills State Park is another great local option with more than 90 miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails. The campground at Chino Hills has tent sites with picnic tables and restrooms, while RV travelers can also find a variety of San Bernardino RV parks with full hookups, free wifi, dump stations, and everything else needed for travel in a big rig or camper.
San Bernardino Mountains
Much of the San Bernardino Mountains north of the city are preserved by the San Bernardino National Forest. Within this park system are 42 campgrounds, hundreds of miles of trails, and the highest peak in Southern California: the 11,499-foot San Gorgonio Mountain. The Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area and Big Bear Lake are also in this range, the latter of which sits at 6,752 feet of elevation and features a winter ski run.
Mount San Jacinto State Park and Wilderness
The Mount San Jacinto State Park and Wilderness spans 14,000 acres in the San Jacinto Mountains. With granite cliffs, Sequoia trees, and stunning views, this region feels more like the High Sierra than Southern California. There are campgrounds and rugged hiking trails near the park in Idyllwild, or you can start in Palm Springs and let the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway whisk you to 8,516 feet, where hiking trails depart from the tram’s Mountain Station.
When to go
There are year-round camping options in San Bernardino due to its proximity to varied climates. While the San Bernardino Valley can become uncomfortably hot in summer, this is a great season to camp at the more temperate beach and mountain areas nearby. Conversely, both the valley and nearby desert sites like Joshua Tree National Park are ideal for a winter camping getaway.
