The Goat Shed is 88 sq ft of pure cozy! Like camping but within four walls, the Goat Shed has everything you need for a peaceful rural experience. Furnished with a full-size bed, an outdoor sink, basic kitchen amenities, and a shower and a potty, the space is perfect for the solo or duo traveler. Located about 4 miles east of I-5, it's a peaceful and safe "pit stop" for those traveling the I-5 corridor. Listen to the coyotes yip at night while you cook dinner on a propane camp stove, then wake up to coffee and a gaggle of turkeys. We are 🌈 friendly and welcome all people.
Located just outside of Redding, we are centrally located and have easy access to all Shasta County has to offer. Explore Lassen National Park (1 hour drive east along beautiful country roads), Whiskeytown National Recreation Area (20 min drive west), Old Shasta State Historic Park (15 min drive west), and of course, beautiful Mt. Shasta. Don't forget our numerous breweries, Turtle Bay Exploration Park, the Sacramento River, and the Sundial Bridge! Redding is also home to many hiking and biking trails. Ask your host for recommendations!
The Goat Shed has no electricity and all lighting is provided by LED rechargeable and/or solar lighting. Check area temperatures before booking! The northern Sacramento Valley often reaches temperatures over 100* in July and August which can make for an unpleasant stay!

I loved my one night stay in Caboose #11! The caboose was clean and cozy, the hot tub was lovely in the rain, and dinner in the dining car was delicious. I had my dog with me and there were no problems with that, the property was dog-friendly as described (just had to pay a $25 pet fee when reserving through Hipcamp, not sure if that's the same if you book through their website directly). Everything was easy & nice! Would definitely stay here again.

Weekend Trip to Cabin Hideaway
This is the second time I've stayed in this beautiful cabin. Each time I've extended our stay. It has a cozy feeling once you step inside, and you feel right at home. The owner is super easy to contact when you have any questions or concerns, and she's super sweet to chat with. The only complaint I have is the Hipcamp app itself. The property owners that use this app has a lot of difficulty reaching out to me or being able to get on the app itself. So you would need to make sure that you have an alternate way of communicating with management because this app is unreliable when it comes to that. Highly recommend staying here!

As the host says, it’s a magical place, it truly is the beauty is beyond your imagination, if you’re looking for a healing journey solo or a couple it’s the place to go. I spent 3 nights and 4 days at the ranch. Everything was just so easy from checking up until check out the communication and detail details were superb. And Jimmy, Jimmy is just amazing, he works on the ranch and drives around on a quad and brings you firewood and tells you amazing stories about the ranch. Oh, and if you happen to see Doug, he’s just a regular who loves to take care of the place and he does such a great job. Thank you Doug for taking care of the hot springs and all that you do the love that you pour into the hot springs shows and is felt! As the reviews say, the drive down is a little sketchy but once you get there, I promise it’s worth it. I look at the cars on the side of the road as a piece of art a story don’t let it scare you away. I will be coming back.

The roads out to Kosk creek are remote and sometimes sketchy (the road to McCloud is dicey with tree fall, rockfall, landslides) but the camp felt safe and the caretakers were nice. Beautiful spot and great that they've made this sacred place accessible and well maintained.

What an incredible stay! We had no problem arriving late in the evening (about 1:30am we came from Washington) and were able to use the hot springs at any time. This is definitely a new staple campground just be wary of the insane potholes leading up! No issue finding the place and facilities were so nice and clean :-)

I had the loveliest time in the goat shed. The space is small but well kitted out with the basics, like battery powered lights, a propane stove, water, dishes, towels and extra blankets. But when I arrived, I also found some extra treats, like nice lotion, oracle cards and hot water left out so that I could make tea when I arrived on a cold night. Johanna couldn't have been nicer. I will 100% come back the next time I'm passing through.
