Sugarloaf Ridge State Park Glamping

We have four lovely Glamping sites at Sugarloaf Ridge State Park, nestled in the glorious chaparral of the Mayacama Mountain Range and Sonoma Hills, deep in the heart of wine country. In our family-friendly campground, we installed three 16-Foot Canvas Glamping Tents, replete with warm and cozy furnishings, and other amenities you will love. The cost is $150 per night on weekends (Fri and Sat) and $125 per night on weekdays (Sun-Thurs). There is a 2-night minimum stay required between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Each canvas tent comes with a queen-size bed, futon lounge chairs, rugs, tables, lighting, and complementary firewood the first night. At no additional cost, we can add up to two twin beds to each tent upon request to sleep up to 6 people. 8 people max allowed at the campsite. The glamping sites include a picnic table, fire ring, outdoor seating, and room for your additional tents if desired. All sites are easy walking distance to flush toilets and a bathhouse, with large, clean, coin operated hot shower rooms. There is no cell service in the park, but free WiFi is available at the Visitor Center. PLEASE NOTE that Bedding (sheets, pillows, blankets) IS NOT included in a standard rental, but is available as an add-on. Guests are encouraged to bring their own bedding whenever possible. If no bedding is added, we will assume a one-queen setup with mattress covers only. We kindly ask guests to provide at least 48-hour notice if bedding will be required. We will always try to accommodate last-minute requests, but we cannot guarantee this. PETS and SMOKING ARE NOT ALLOWED INSIDE our glamping tents! This is strictly enforced, and you WILL be charged a $150 cleaning fee for any violation of this policy. Parking: Your reservation includes parking for one vehicle. There is an additional $10 per night per vehicle charge for more than one vehicle, which you can pay for at the Visitor's Center upon check-in. Please note that a $25 setup/cleaning fee is charged per reservation, plus a booking fee. Since 2012, Sugarloaf Ridge State Park has been operated by a band of non-profits, spearheaded by The Sonoma Ecology Center, known as Team Sugarloaf. Audrey Edna Cabin at Alpine Ranch

Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) protects open space on the Peninsula and in the South Bay for the benefit of all. Situated on top of a ridge with expansive redwood forest and coastal views, the Audrey Edna Cabin provides a completely private gathering place and destination for visitors with reservations. The cabin has spectacular views of forest, sky, ocean and the Butano ridgeline. It's a short hike to 8000+ acres of county parkland where you can hike, bike and ride horses (though please note, there are no facilities for horse boarding at the cabin.) The cabin is located at Alpine Ranch, a property adjacent to Sam McDonald County Park that was protected by Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST). Whether you are looking for an active experience or just want to relax in a peaceful, remote setting, there's something here for everyone. This is a rustic hike-in cabin designed for a introductory pack-in experience. Bedding is not provided. It is about a 1.7-mile hike on a rolling dirt road from the Sam McDonald County Park parking lot, with about 650 feet of elevation gain. Most hikers can reach the cabin in an hour or less. Guests should plan to arrive at least 2 hours before sunset, and pack water and flashlights or headlamps. Guests with limited mobility, please contact us for information regarding accommodations that will allow you to access this shared resource. *A note about reservation availability: On the weekends, POST offers priority reservations for the cabin to our partners at the San Mateo County Health Department and Park Rx to provide patients with equitable access to the benefits of nature. Property History: At one time, the ridge of the Santa Cruz Mountains was a thriving center for trade between tribes of the coast and the bay, which we still find evidence of today in cultural sites and artifacts throughout the region. Native people have cared for this land since time immemorial, including the local Muwekma and Ramaytush Ohlone who are still active in the area today. This property specifically is host to a tributary to one of just a handful of waterways that support salmonids in this region, which are a species of tremendous importance to native people. Over 1000 acres here were eventually purchased by entrepreneur Ridgeway Rowley, who built a home on the ranch in the 1880s as part of an unsuccessful wedding proposal to Fannie Page, daughter of a local mill owner (ever heard of Page Mill Road?) After being rejected by Fannie, Rowley operated the ranch for a decade in conjunction with his work as District Attorney and publisher of the Palo Alto Weekly, before eventually returning to his hometown of Cortland, NY, where he lived as a bachelor until his death. Over the course of the 20th century, the ranch was divided, some parts of which became Pescadero Creek County Park. POST purchased the 350 acre home property, now called Alpine Ranch, in 2012 through our Heart of the Redwoods campaign, an initiative to protect 20,000 acres of Redwoods in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Alpine Ranch borders Pescadero Creek County Park and Sam McDonald County Park, adding to the area’s protected open space and containing more than a mile of tributaries to Pescadero Creek, which flows year-round and is a major spawning stream for steelhead trout. The Audrey Edna Cabin at Alpine Ranch is situated at one of the property's most scenic overlooks. The cabin was built in the early 1900's, and completely reconstructed up to modern building codes by POST in 2018 so that all could enjoy this special place.

Welcome to our family land! We now offer 3 options, just 10 minutes from beautiful Calistoga, mud baths, the community pool ($8) and of course the restaurant and fun bar scene. I teach at SF State, and spend my summer vacations visiting our family land and running hipcamp, amidst various travel plans. I am proud of our little camp and cabins for being an affordable option in Calistoga with gorgeous views and peaceful nature settings. With the exception of Coral Cabin, this is a "user responsible" site, essentially meaning Shaded Oak and Married Manzanitas are 'leave no trace' sites. I provide garbage bags, but ask that you take your tied bag to the lower garbage bins when you depart your stay. There are also supplied disinfectant towelettes, sprays and other cleaning supplies for a quick wipe down of surfaces when you leave, and if needed/preferred upon arrival. No cleaning service, no cleaning fee, guests responsible for cleaning up after themselves with supplies provided. If that's OK with you, read on! Thank you! Whaleback Ridge has 3 main sites that overlook “the Whaleback Ridge” to the North, named by my great-great grandparents who settled here 100 years ago. The top of the Whaleback Ridge is seen from the camps on the north-side far edge of our 34-acre property, and is accessible by trails (a hiking map will be sent to you upon booking). The lower, private sites, overlooking this ridgeline through the trees, are called the Shaded Oak and the Married Manzanitas - both are very rustic and outdoorsy. The upper site, the Coral Cabin, shares the hilltop with the main house and shared Hilltop 360 Station, is the most outfitted, and is the most accessible - but also with outdoor toilet, shower, sink, etc. The Coral Cabin has the best views, but everyone can access the views by walking up to the Shared Hilltop 360 Station (named for the views). *We have a 14-year old dog at the Hilltop 360 Station! She is a husky-akida mix (her name is "Beautiful"), she lives in the main house with mom and has a dog door to come and go to everything she needs. She will bark at you at first, but please don't be alarmed - she has never bitten anyone and she makes friends quickly if you call her by name and are friendly. Overview of Sites (more details in site descriptions): Shaded Oak ($59/night 4ppl, more $10 each), smaller RV accessible, 2 tent spots, propane fire ring, compost toilet "throne". Tables and chairs. Water provided for hand/dishwashing; b-y-o drinking water. Shower at shared Hilltop 360 Station. Married Manzanitas Camp and Cabin ($79/night up to 6 ppl), walk-in OR high clearance vehicle, 1 large tent spot AND access to 2-person camp cabin. Camp cabin comes ready to throw your sleeping bag or put your own sheets on the full bed (very comfy futon) - or pitch a tent and use the cabin for storage or to chill out - or both with a larger group. Private/exclusive outdoor shower with redwood platform and riverstones - fed by hose at hilltop (you will have to walk up to turn on the right, red hose 1/4 turn) - then hot water should turn on automatically when you turn on black dial at base of heater. Compost toilet "throne", tables and chairs, 2 adirondack loungers, gas stove and limited cooking/eating utensils. Water provided for hand/dishwashing; b-y-o drinking water. Coral Cabin ($125/night up to 2 ppl, more $10 each to pitch tent/RV), drive up to doorway, direct access to Hilltop 360 Station (kitchen, shower, tubs). Cabin has electricity, AC unit, wifi access, TV with Roku, comfy loveseat. Enjoy some interesting books. Bed comes freshly made and there is a cleaning service so no need to tidy up on departure. This is our "glamping" cabin with outdoor amenities, compost toilet, etc. Hilltop 360 Station: a shared space (only if there are other campers) has: Outdoor kitchen with stainless countertop, running water, propane grill, electrical outlets, and wifi - access to shed with microwave, coffee maker, mini-fridge with freezer, lots of plates/cookware/silverware to use. Games and books! Gas campstove is usually at Married Manzanitas Camp but can be brought up - ask Dan. Hammocks in camp station can easily be unclipped to get out of the way, second hammock also available in treehouse. And a swing to enjoy! Shower/tubs: The on-demand propane heated shower is right in the camp station, guarded by a privacy barrier all around except the lookout over the mountain. If you want a hot tub in either the private smaller tub or larger tub next to it, contact Dan ($10 as 'extra' if desired). Hot water turns on automatically when you turn blue dial at base of water pipe to heater. Compost toilets: there are separate seats for #1 and #2; #1 is LOW SEAT (or blue commode at lower sites) and is over an open pit - no used TP here... and #2 is the HIGH SEAT on the throne, all TP can be deposited here with a scoop/layer of mulch over it. #1 in lower seats can be covered with a scoop/layer of dirt OR leaves; #2 is covered with a layer of mulch/leaves/dried material ONLY directly on top of poo and used TP. Mulch/leaves should fully cover any sight and smell of your biz after using the thrones. Garbage: Please use the trash bags provided, tie your trash bag, and on departure deposit tied bag in the FARTHEST grey bin from the "5895" mailbox. Recycle can be deposited in the blue bin. Other notes: You may need to rinse dishes, etc. before use as dust and spiderwebs accumulate up here. Feel free to use cleaning supplies to evict any daddy-long legs if they bother you. Want some activities? Kayak and all gear/2 life vests/ratchet strap to tie to roof ($20); tennis rackets/balls for court in town ($10); 2-4 person tent ($10/night). Games and books are free to use! - please replace as you found them. *In emergencies or stuck cars, our resident at the main house can usually help with his truck - after work hours - for a $15 emergency help fee if he's available, and has graciously done so before. Venmo him directly. But remember, Dan is the main point of contact by text and I can ask him for help. If you need WIFI to send a text, you can connect at the Hilltop 360 View Station. Wifi Info is on the google doc that I will send to your phone or email upon booking; I recommend downloading the doc to your phone in case you don't have service:) *Steer clear of the neighbors down the hill - the first house you see when you drive up the driveway. They are my cousins, and not part of hipcamp. Please do not approach the lower house or invade their privacy. This is a beautiful, serene, and peaceful spot! We invite you to come contribute to that energy.

Also a great place to capture a glimpse of the numerous critters that cruise our creek. Foxes, Deer, Squirrels, Otters, Ducks and Herons as well as numerous songbirds that feed from our bird feeder.Lulu’s Lanai is a Flamingo-themed outdoor living room and dining area with fun vintage furniture and décor.The Take- A -Liki- Tiki Shower Shack is a great place to cool off and clean up after a day on the river or exploring tidepools at the coast. There is even a puppy bath station behind it for your furry friends!The Wack Shack is our outdoor bar and grill, full of fun, colorful lights and signs. There’s plenty of equipment to cook there: appliances, a BBQ, sink, fridge and walk-up bar.We also have several apple trees, a pear tree, and tons of blackberries when in season to share with our guest. Our Veggie Garden will be available next season to enjoy also. We are constantly improving our property so please stay in the finished designated guest areas only until we open up the coming attractions.There are plenty of sites and destinations within minutes from our home too! We have Tennis, Pickle Ball, and Basketball Courts around the corner. The Russian River/ Monte Rio public beach is a short walk past the Parks and Recreation Center, and they rent Kayaks and Canoes during the summer months. The Redwood Alliance camp is just a few miles up Bohemian Hwy if you dare to zip line through the redwood canopy forest or Armstrong woods in Guerneville for those that would rather keep their feet on the ground and take a hike to enjoy the majestic beauties. Duncan's Mill is a quaint town (less than 3 miles from us) on your way to Jenner by the Sea which is just about 9 miles to the west of us. You can take a gorgeous coastal drive to Bodega that is only 15 miles away. Historic Fort Ross is another beautiful 20 mile coastal drive. Bike Enthusiast love the back roads out here and the Biggest Attraction Is… Wait for it…. Wineries are everywhere! During the summer there are several Music Venues close by too. The Rio Nido Roadhouse has outdoor music on the weekends. Rockin the River is every other Thursday in Guerneville. The Monte Rio Variety Show just celebrated it 111th year to a sold-out crowd. Zac Brown, Steve Miller, Jimmy Buffet, James Taylor are just a few Headliners that have been here in the past.We have a great Lightwave coffee shop across the creek that is a quick 5 minute walk. There are several restaurants along the river as well as a small grocery store, movie theater, and a Homemade Ice Cream Parlor that are all close enough to walk to or drive. Bay View "Tree House"

This is a beautiful, 20-sided shingled cottage set on 2 acres of oak trees, with views of the San Francisco Bay through the trees. The property is gated with off-street parking. This unique guest house offers one bedroom with a queen bed, and a full size sofa bed in the living room. Windows in every room look out into the oaks, where you can see deer, squirrels, hummingbirds, and occasional rabbits. For its location, it feels incredibly private! The cottage is just 2 miles from charming downtown San Rafael, and just 1 mile to mountain biking, hiking, and picnicking at China Camp State Park. San Rafael is the perfect location for day trips to San Francisco, Mt. Tamalpais, and all of Marin, Sonoma, and Napa counties. The cottage was built with the finest materials, including slate roof with copper gutters, bamboo and slate floors, granite counter tops, tumbled marble shower, and maple cabinets. A deck with glass railing encircles the entire house. There is a full kitchen, wireless high speed Internet, and cable. The only other other structure on the property is our main home. The hot tub, which hipcampers are welcome to use upon request, is on the deck of the main house.

Kings Mountain Camp w/ ocean views

Breathe deep in nature on our 10-acre property on a hillside in Kings Mountain, California. Our generously sized Safari-style tents offer a unique blend of comfort and adventure. Each tent has beds, down comforters, crisp cotton linens, lights, and more. Outdoor and indoor furniture and lots of little touches will make your stay unique. Each tent is perched on a sturdy wooden platform and features a fully furnished deck, providing a cozy space to relax and soak in the breathtaking ocean (Half Moon Bay views) and forest views (Kings Mountain). All tents include a mini fridge and a stove, which are ideal for light cooking, intimate fireside storytelling, and warmth during cool mornings and evenings. We suggest you bring easy-to-prep food, drinks, warm clothes, hiking shoes, and a beanie, as it can get chilly without notice. Your designated parking space is a 6-minute walk from the campsite (downhill on arrival, then back uphill (steep) in the forest), so we recommend traveling light. Our campsite is nestled within the same property as our charming little farm. If you're interested in meeting our friendly farm animals, get in touch, and we'll be delighted to arrange a visit at a time that works best for you and them. While our animals rest peacefully at night, our vigilant dog Messy stands guard, ensuring the safety of our chickens and goats from any potential predators. Her bark is a reassuring sign that our farm is well-protected. You may also hear our chickens starting their day with the early morning egg-laying routine! Our goats roam the land all day and may visit you for pets and nuzzles. They are gentle, but please do not feed or let them inside the tent. Recharge from the day with a hot shower. Grab your fresh towels from your tent and go to your allocated bathhouses, where you’ll find an indoor shower and well-appointed restrooms. They are nicely lit and stocked with bath products. Additionally, a sink area is available for dish clean-up. Kings Mountain is famous for its hiking and biking trails nested amongst the redwoods. The closest is a 15-minute walk from our campsite, and dozens of others are within a 15-minute car ride. The upper site, the Coral Cabin, shares the hilltop with the main house and shared Hilltop 360 Station, is the most outfitted, and is the most accessible - but also with outdoor toilet, shower, sink, etc. The Coral Cabin has the best views, but everyone can access the views by walking up to the Shared Hilltop 360 Station (named for the views). *We have a 14-year old dog at the Hilltop 360 Station! She is a husky-akida mix (her name is "Beautiful"), she lives in the main house with mom and has a dog door to come and go to everything she needs. She will bark at you at first, but please don't be alarmed - she has never bitten anyone and she makes friends quickly if you call her by name and are friendly. Camp cabin comes ready to throw your sleeping bag or put your own sheets on the full bed (very comfy futon) - or pitch a tent and use the cabin for storage or to chill out - or both with a larger group. Private/exclusive outdoor shower with redwood platform and riverstones - fed by hose at hilltop (you will have to walk up to turn on the right, red hose 1/4 turn) - then hot water should turn on automatically when you turn on black dial at base of heater. Compost toilet "throne", tables and chairs, 2 adirondack loungers, gas stove and limited cooking/eating utensils. Water provided for hand/dishwashing; b-y-o drinking water. Coral Cabin ($125/night up to 2 ppl, more $10 each to pitch tent/RV), drive up to doorway, direct access to Hilltop 360 Station (kitchen, shower, tubs). Cabin has electricity, AC unit, wifi access, TV with Roku, comfy loveseat. Enjoy some interesting books. Bed comes freshly made and there is a cleaning service so no need to tidy up on departure. This is our "glamping" cabin with outdoor amenities, compost toilet, etc. Hilltop 360 Station: a shared space (only if there are other campers) has: Outdoor kitchen with stainless countertop, running water, propane grill, electrical outlets, and wifi - access to shed with microwave, coffee maker, mini-fridge with freezer, lots of plates/cookware/silverware to use. Games and books! Gas campstove is usually at Married Manzanitas Camp but can be brought up - ask Dan. Hammocks in camp station can easily be unclipped to get out of the way, second hammock also available in treehouse. And a swing to enjoy! Shower/tubs: The on-demand propane heated shower is right in the camp station, guarded by a privacy barrier all around except the lookout over the mountain. If you want a hot tub in either the private smaller tub or larger tub next to it, contact Dan ($10 as 'extra' if desired). Hot water turns on automatically when you turn blue dial at base of water pipe to heater. Compost toilets: there are separate seats for #1 and #2; #1 is LOW SEAT (or blue commode at lower sites) and is over an open pit - no used TP here... and #2 is the HIGH SEAT on the throne, all TP can be deposited here with a scoop/layer of mulch over it. #1 in lower seats can be covered with a scoop/layer of dirt OR leaves; #2 is covered with a layer of mulch/leaves/dried material ONLY directly on top of poo and used TP. Mulch/leaves should fully cover any sight and smell of your biz after using the thrones. Garbage: Please use the trash bags provided, tie your trash bag, and on departure deposit tied bag in the FARTHEST grey bin from the "5895" mailbox. Recycle can be deposited in the blue bin. Other notes: You may need to rinse dishes, etc. before use as dust and spiderwebs accumulate up here. Feel free to use cleaning supplies to evict any daddy-long legs if they bother you. Want some activities? Kayak and all gear/2 life vests/ratchet strap to tie to roof ($20); tennis rackets/balls for court in town ($10); 2-4 person tent ($10/night). Games and books are free to use! - please replace as you found them. *In emergencies or stuck cars, our resident at the main house can usually help with his truck - after work hours - for a $15 emergency help fee if he's available, and has graciously done so before. Venmo him directly. But remember, Dan is the main point of contact by text and I can ask him for help. If you need WIFI to send a text, you can connect at the Hilltop 360 View Station. Wifi Info is on the google doc that I will send to your phone or email upon booking; I recommend downloading the doc to your phone in case you don't have service:) *Steer clear of the neighbors down the hill - the first house you see when you drive up the driveway. They are my cousins, and not part of hipcamp. Please do not approach the lower house or invade their privacy. This is a beautiful, serene, and peaceful spot! Foxes, Deer, Squirrels, Otters, Ducks and Herons as well as numerous songbirds that feed from our bird feeder.Lulu’s Lanai is a Flamingo-themed outdoor living room and dining area with fun vintage furniture and décor.The Take- A -Liki- Tiki Shower Shack is a great place to cool off and clean up after a day on the river or exploring tidepools at the coast. There is even a puppy bath station behind it for your furry friends!The Wack Shack is our outdoor bar and grill, full of fun, colorful lights and signs. There’s plenty of equipment to cook there: appliances, a BBQ, sink, fridge and walk-up bar.We also have several apple trees, a pear tree, and tons of blackberries when in season to share with our guest. We have Tennis, Pickle Ball, and Basketball Courts around the corner. The Russian River/ Monte Rio public beach is a short walk past the Parks and Recreation Center, and they rent Kayaks and Canoes during the summer months. The Redwood Alliance camp is just a few miles up Bohemian Hwy if you dare to zip line through the redwood canopy forest or Armstrong woods in Guerneville for those that would rather keep their feet on the ground and take a hike to enjoy the majestic beauties. Duncan's Mill is a quaint town (less than 3 miles from us) on your way to Jenner by the Sea which is just about 9 miles to the west of us. You can take a gorgeous coastal drive to Bodega that is only 15 miles away. Historic Fort Ross is another beautiful 20 mile coastal drive. Bike Enthusiast love the back roads out here and the Biggest Attraction Is… Wait for it…. Wineries are everywhere! During the summer there are several Music Venues close by too. The Rio Nido Roadhouse has outdoor music on the weekends. Rockin the River is every other Thursday in Guerneville. The Monte Rio Variety Show just celebrated it 111th year to a sold-out crowd. Zac Brown, Steve Miller, Jimmy Buffet, James Taylor are just a few Headliners that have been here in the past.We have a great Lightwave coffee shop across the creek that is a quick 5 minute walk. Breathe deep in nature on our 10-acre property on a hillside in Kings Mountain, California. Our generously sized Safari-style tents offer a unique blend of comfort and adventure. Each tent has beds, down comforters, crisp cotton linens, lights, and more. Outdoor and indoor furniture and lots of little touches will make your stay unique. Each tent is perched on a sturdy wooden platform and features a fully furnished deck, providing a cozy space to relax and soak in the breathtaking ocean (Half Moon Bay views) and forest views (Kings Mountain). All tents include a mini fridge and a stove, which are ideal for light cooking, intimate fireside storytelling, and warmth during cool mornings and evenings. We suggest you bring easy-to-prep food, drinks, warm clothes, hiking shoes, and a beanie, as it can get chilly without notice. Your designated parking space is a 6-minute walk from the campsite (downhill on arrival, then back uphill (steep) in the forest), so we recommend traveling light. Our campsite is nestled within the same property as our charming little farm. If you're interested in meeting our friendly farm animals, get in touch, and we'll be delighted to arrange a visit at a time that works best for you and them. While our animals rest peacefully at night, our vigilant dog Messy stands guard, ensuring the safety of our chickens and goats from any potential predators. Our goats roam the land all day and may visit you for pets and nuzzles. They are gentle, but please do not feed or let them inside the tent. Recharge from the day with a hot shower.
