This 10 acre property is located on the coastal ridge, often above the fog. You will be on the Pacific plate looking across to the North American plate, looking down on the San Andreas fault! Near artsy, coastal towns. Wonderful location for relaxing after a day of hiking and exploring beaches and forests.. In the winter months, it can provide a peaceful retreat and often dramatic storm watching. Peaceful, security-gated property with a campsite for RV's/tent camping for maximum of 6, and the charming, rustic, Pickle Barrel cabin for 2 is available. You can book either one or both. Either way, you will have the entire site for your stay.
Outside wood campfires are allowed unless there is a fire ban, propane fire pits are allowed year round. Hot showers are available 15 minutes away with purchase of a day pass and quarters. The owners and their dog live on site about 50 yards away. You may see us doing our walks. Centrally located. 10 minutes from beaches, rivers, state parks, Stornetta Lands National Monument, and towns, i.e., Gualala, Point Arena, or Anchor Bay.

In 1951 Herman and Clara Nelson sold their ranch in what is now Silicon Valley and headed north, landing in Southern Mendocino County near the town of Hopland. We host weddings and other events. We have a tasting room and a redwood picnic area. We are the fourth owners of this property. The ranch has produced hops, prunes, pears, wine grapes, sheep, and cattle at different periods. Currently, we grow pears, grapes, strawberries, and Christmas trees.

We had an amazing time at the Coastal Cabin. Bon is a very responsive host, loved the location. Very secluded and peaceful. Cozy wood stove to stay warm. Kitchen has a gas stove, large mini fridge and full sink set up. It’s a drive to get to coastal access, but worth it. We really enjoyed just doing nothing at the cabin. Will definitely be back!

This cabin was a welcome retreat from my wife and I's busy lives as music teachers. We had ample space and privacy to unplug and relax. The closeness to nature may make you think there's little to no creature comforts, but that'd be a false assumption. Hot showers, heating, wifi, and all the necessities for cooking and coffee

I loved it. The land and cabin felt cared for and welcoming. Our stay was in November so pretty cold but very cozy and worth it. We appreciated that the kitchen as well stocked with everything we needed. The outdoor tub was just the best thing ever and the bed inside was like a cloud. Would definitely stay again!

Really nice and quirky small hut that was comfortable for a couple. Outdoor space was surrounded by trees and was very peaceful. Short drive to Gualala or Point Arena for food. No cooking facilities on site so bring a stove if that's your plan.

I had a lovely, cozy stay at Bon's cabin. The location is perfect - 10 mins from Elk, 20 mins to Mendocino village, 25 mins to Philo - and the drive is stunning. The cabin itself is incredibly private and cozy with all the amenities, from a full kitchen, to an equipped bathroom, to comfy beds. Then there's the outdoor tub (!!!), wood-fired sauna, and pizza oven. Though Bon has provided space heaters, one of my favorite parts of my stay was keeping the cabin nice and warm with the wood stove. Truly a perfect fall getaway, I can't wait to come back!

The instructions to the cabin were clear and it was easy finding Gena's place. The stove worked extremely well and we got toasty very quickly. The decors give the cabin an old charm. We enjoyed our stay and our dog loved roaming the ground. Would recommend this to anyone who wants to explore South of Mendocino and Salt Point State park (30 min drive).

The staff was amazing and super welcoming. Originally booked for a tent site, but due to weather conditions, decided we wanted a cabin instead. The staff thankfully accommodate us and upgraded our stay. It rained on and off during the entirety of our stay. This funky little cabin in the forest was just what I needed. I spent most of my time lounging on the outside bed, and soaking in the tub. The Huckleberries are abundant, and the beach is a short drive 10-15 minutes. What a perfect combination of nature and modern convenience.

Everything is set for you to enjoy your stay. Really loved the details ! Thoughtful setting of spigot for doing your dishes & drying on an extra table, charming perfect size camping table with extra benches, cozy romantic chairs & fire pit. Restroom right there, very clean. Quiet & private, despite the host lives nearby, we really appreciate the tall trees, the proximity of the ocean, about 11 miles. We even saw the whales going South at Point Arena. Definitely recommend this place.
