This is helpful for guests who have separate rigs but want to be close to each other. Our property is a great base camp for your Santa Cruz and Monterey County adventures! We are 15 minutes from Capitola Village, 30 minutes to downtown Santa Cruz and 45 minutes to Monterey. We love to host guests and will provide information about things to do and see in our area. We often loan our State Parks pass so that you can venture out to Point Lobos, Wilder Ranch, Sunset Beach, Natural Bridges and more. It's a short hike to 8000+ acres of county parkland where you can hike, bike and ride horses (though please note, there are no facilities for horse boarding at the cabin.) The cabin is located at Alpine Ranch, a property adjacent to Sam McDonald County Park that was protected by Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST).  Whether you are looking for an active experience or just want to relax in a peaceful, remote setting, there's something here for everyone. This is a rustic hike-in cabin designed for a introductory pack-in experience. Bedding is not provided. It is about a 1.7-mile hike on a rolling dirt road from the Sam McDonald County Park parking lot, with about 650 feet of elevation gain. Most hikers can reach the cabin in an hour or less. Guests should plan to arrive at least 2 hours before sunset, and pack water and flashlights or headlamps. Guests with limited mobility, please contact us for information regarding accommodations that will allow you to access this shared resource. *A note about reservation availability: On the weekends, POST offers priority reservations for the cabin to our partners at the San Mateo County Health Department and Park Rx to provide patients with equitable access to the benefits of nature. Occasionally, we have last-minute public weekend reservation availability due to cancellations. The cabin is reservable up to 3 months in advance, on a rolling basis. Check out the nearby Sierra Club Hiker's Hut in Sam McDonald County Park.  Property History: At one time, the ridge of the Santa Cruz Mountains was a thriving center for trade between tribes of the coast and the bay, which we still find evidence of today in cultural sites and artifacts throughout the region. Native people have cared for this land since time immemorial, including the local Muwekma and Ramaytush Ohlone who are still active in the area today. This property specifically is host to a tributary to one of just a handful of waterways that support salmonids in this region, which are a species of tremendous importance to native people. Over 1000 acres here were eventually purchased by entrepreneur Ridgeway Rowley, who built a home on the ranch in the 1880s as part of an unsuccessful wedding proposal to Fannie Page, daughter of a local mill owner (ever heard of Page Mill Road?) After being rejected by Fannie, Rowley operated the ranch for a decade in conjunction with his work as District Attorney and publisher of the Palo Alto Weekly, before eventually returning to his hometown of Cortland, NY, where he lived as a bachelor until his death. Over the course of the 20th century, the ranch was divided, some parts of which became Pescadero Creek County Park. POST purchased the 350 acre home property, now called Alpine Ranch, in 2012 through our Heart of the Redwoods campaign, an initiative to protect 20,000 acres of Redwoods in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Alpine Ranch borders Pescadero Creek County Park and Sam McDonald County Park, adding to the area’s protected open space and containing more than a mile of tributaries to Pescadero Creek, which flows year-round and is a major spawning stream for steelhead trout. The Audrey Edna Cabin at Alpine Ranch is situated at one of the property's most scenic overlooks. The cabin was built in the early 1900's, and completely reconstructed up to modern building codes by POST in 2018 so that all could enjoy this special place.

Weekend Trip to 40min to Pinn/Song of the Ancients

Beautiful! Veronica was a wonderful host. Very welcoming and gracious. There is no service in the area and Veronica was kind enough to let us use her phone to get in touch with the rest of our group to give some updated instructions/directions. The grounds are well-maintained and the sites were big enough to accommodate big groups with multiple cars. Our group had a mix of car and tent campers and it was big enough to accommodate us all comfortably. Also, the sunset view is absolutely stunning! Looking forward to our next trip back here. Weekend Trip to Felton Open Space Camp Sites

John was a wonderful host! The campsite was clean, quiet, and the bathrooms were clean! The site also had a lovely Baba Temple on it that I went to and meditated at. Next time, I’ll remember my yoga mat. There’s a great little winery/cidery on site too. We didn’t get a chance to go because we had a busy weekend, but will be sure to next time. Also, their winery dog is super sweet and joined us on some walks around the property!

This was an incredibly peaceful, beautiful site. Had a good experience with Art's friend Stas showing us how to get to the site. There is a picnic table and a bench at the site that were handy. The views of the sunset on one side and the sun rise on the other were amazing. There was good bird-watching and coyote-listening, and we enjoyed watching some kind of cute mole thing excavating tunnels right next to us at the site. Our dog really enjoyed staying there too. The general store/cafe/bar 5 minutes down the road was had fun vibes and amazing pastries in the morning.

Absolutely stunning campsite. Perfectly flat, spacious, and surrounded by incredible Redwood-lined ridges — plus a panorama of one of the most beautiful peninsulas on Earth. Easy to find, easy to settle into. Rebecca was super accommodating. Could not recommend it more. We’ll definitely be back.

Really lovely site and very kind host. It took us an hour to get to Pinnacles, so not quite as close as we thought - but a really beautiful stay. Fair warning - the directions are a little tricky and there isn’t any cell coverage. Would recommend taking a peak at you map before you lose coverage :)

We spent a lot of time on the beach, which is only a few minutes away and we visited Pescadero. We stopped into the San Gregorio store… They had live music. It was so crowded! The place to be.

Weekend Trip to Dreamy California Coast Airstreams

What a fun and memorable experience! Airstream #1 was clean, cute and comfortable with all the necessities. We very much enjoyed using the fire pit and watching the waves roll in. The location was excellent too - just minutes from town, but on a secluded bluff. We do wish airstream #1 would have been slightly cheaper since it’s the same price as airstream #2 & #3, which both have unobstructed/ larger views and more land space. However, it was still incredibly gorgeous and unique. We really appreciated how communicative Mark was too! We would love to return with friends for more airstream living!

We had a fantastic night at this camping spot. Despite arriving at night, we found the site easily. The site was spotless, and the amenities were as described. Waking up to the sunlight, we were greeted by breathtaking scenery. Our child thoroughly enjoyed petting the animals at the nearby farm. The communication with the host was excellent. We’ll definitely book this spot again when we return to the Pinnacles area.

What an amazing place!! Super clean, great views of the strawberry fields, clean Porto potty to use (was serviced day before we arrived), and the hosts were super friendly. Robin made us cookies and gave us fresh eggs from their chickens. Lots of privacy between the 3 camp sites available. Couldn’t have been happier! The beach is only an 8 min walk away and what a phenomenal beach. Dog friendly and super quiet, perfect spot to go surfing and/or watch the surfers. Soft sand and people are friendly. Would definitely recommend to a friend and will be back soon.

We had a fantastic time staying at Robin and Rays property. They were both very personable and gracious hosts. Robins farm fresh eggs were delicious too. The property was well kept and the porta potty was very clean. The location was very close to two very beautiful beaches as well. We intend to stay again when we are back down in that area. Weekend Trip to Windsor Family Farm

We had such a fun stay at the Room with a View of a Ewe! Kim the host was extremely welcoming and friendly - she showed us around the farm and we got to feed the chickens, ducks, sheep, goats, bunnies, and alpacas. It was a hit with our toddler. The cabin was comfortable and warm overnight, and the breakfast and s’mores kit were an added bonus. Thanks Kim!

Amazing location! Out of the way of the hustle and bustle of everything. Very nice level sites! And huge outdoor kitchen with all the perks! And nice quartz lined fire pit. Sounds of the ranch are prevalent. Horses, dogs and a very friendly cat, roosters and chickens. Other animals around, cows, sheep and goats. Lovely place to check out and chill!
