Explore the north, middle, and south fork of the American River at the Auburn State Recreation Area and Coloma, with camping options that include developed, primitive, and boat-in campgrounds and cabins. For more water recreation and tent and RV camping, head south to Lake Amador, Camanche Reservoir, and Pardee Reservoir near Jackson. Both the Eldorado National Forest and Tahoe National Forest are within easy reach of Granite Bay, and offer some 1 million acres of trails, lakes, rivers, mountains, and wilderness—plus more than 100 developed campgrounds and plenty of backcountry camping options.
