Enjoy a glamp-away at one of California’s most coveted camping locales.
Big Sur is one of the top camping destinations on California’s Central Coast, with campgrounds like Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park booking up months in advance. Alternatively, you can take your camping up a notch with a glamping experience such as a yurt stay. After a day of hiking in the Ventana Wilderness, beachcombing at Andrew Molera State Park, peering down at McWay Falls in Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park, or playing in the Big Sur River, a yurt provides a cozy and comfortable retreat. You might find a yurt resort perched above the ocean bluffs or a private yurt for rent in the forest. Technically, a yurt is a circular tent on a platform with lattice framework and a cone-shaped top, but many similar structures offer the same glamping environment, including canvas tents, bell tents, domes, tipis, and pods. Along the Big Sur River, some resorts and campgrounds feature glamping structures.
