3 nights at Grassy Road Cabins and Camping

First time using hipcamp and found this gem of a place with an excellent owner who communicates well and was flexible when we needed to reschedule due to severe weather. Beautiful and clean property. And we loved that we had all 3 types hook ups on site. This will be a repeat spot for us in the future!

1 night at Barnyard Camping Experience

Such a beautiful and meaningful stay! The heater in the trailer was very powerful and despite it being cold outside, was nice and warm inside. Sherita was very welcoming and can tell you the story of how she got her start at the Barnyard; which belonged to her relatives decades ago. I too feel called to a nature-centered lifestyle and hope to be as inspirational as her some day. We awoke to a fully-stocked coffee station with fresh-laid eggs for breakfast. The chickens, ducks, goats, dogs and horse ensure constant entertainment during your stay. There was a fire ban while we were there, but Sherita provided lanterns so we could have some light in the evening; there are also solar string lights hung about. There are ticks, so beware if you have a dog, but she shared some of her tick spray since we didn't bring any; ticks are just natural to the area and her chickens eat a lot of them. It is rustic, but definitely would recommend!

The Gem was an awesome getaway for me and my wife. It’s close enough to town that you can go and do all the other things Heber has to offer but secluded enough for you to unplug and enjoy the silence and solitude as well. The tent was very easy to keep at a comfortable temperature, the amenities worked great and the host was extremely responsive and accommodating. We can’t wait to come back with our kids.

I loved everything about the site! The vintage camper was adorable. Her dogs were so sweet. Having coffee with chickens was fun! We enjoyed our conversations with her. It honestly felt like we were just visiting with an old friend. Hickory is such a sweet horse, too! If you want a peaceful weekend surrounded by nature, animals, and wonderful conversation, book here immediately!

Placed perfectly in between two popular Buffalo National River Access Points: South Maumee and Spring Creek. Grassy Road currently offers: two tiny house cabins, 5 tent sites with 20 amp electric, 3 more primitive tent sites, and 10 RV sites that are full water/sewer hookups with 20/30/50 amp service. There is a private two unit bathhouse with hot showers! This campground is designed to operate remotely through partners like Hipcamp without owners or managers always on site. All check-ins and check-outs will be done self service. The owners have kayaks and life jackets that are available to borrow they ask that you message them before and be sure to return them in good condition. There is firewood for sale provided by a neighboring friend. There are several trails that criss-cross the property, and we encourage everyone to explore just be safe and try to give other vacationers their privacy.
