So when we married we moved to Washington DC knowing that in time we would make it west. 5 years later, when the traffic and the politics has taken its toll, we made a trip to Tucson and fell in love with this charming property that exudes all the beauty and grace of the Sonoran Desert. We looked at each other as we walked around looking at the stunning Mtn. Views and the mesquite fence and knew we were finally "home." I've always adored the SW Hummingbirds and wanted to name the property La Hacienda Chuparosa. When we moved in, for the first week, every morning a hummingbird was sipping nectar from one of our plants in the front yard. We knew it was meant to be. So we added a couple of horses to our dream, built some stalls, and now are ready to welcome you to La Hacienda Chuparosa. We know you will find the same magic here that we do.

Looking for land nearly exhausted my husband and I. We had looked at properties all day. Decided to stop and get something to eat and head home to call it a day, when we stopped at Sandy's RV and restaurant up the street (great food btw). Met a woman who told us about the water table there and she said "I wish you could find someone to sell you land like I did; its the best way yo buy). She wasn't kidding! Turns out she forgot her friend at the fruit-stand out front had 80 Acres to sell! We went right over to look at the land and the rest was history! It was breathtaking! Come enjoy a meal by fireside with family and friends. Elfrida is higher elevated and has mild autumn nights and warm days. The nights sky is majestic and clear enough to count the stars. The main camping area is a flat area on the mountainside East of Summerhaven, with a steep approach (be prepared!). The view from the area is great, and the area has some pines, as do the neighboring properties. Turkey cross the property seasonally, as well as the occasional deer. This is a leave no trace site. The site is current undergoing enchancements, so there will be evidence of demolished boulders, landscaping, and fencing. The site is safe to traverse, but care should be taken to avoid rock and uneven terrain, fence posts, and so on. Usage of the site is at your own risk. Toilet and waste: A bucket toilet is provided, with composting bags. Toilet waste, as well as other waste, must be taken with you, when you leave; there is no trash service. There are sometimes dumpsters in town that can be used to dispose of waste. The bucket toilet consists of a bucket, bucket seat, funnel, and hose. The consumables are composting toilet bags, wood shavings/chips, and toilet paper. You do not need to use the funnel and hose, but may if you wish. At a minimum, place the bag into the bucket, with the bag edge over the edge of the bucket, and place the bucket seat onto the bucket. The bucket seat should firmly fit onto the bucket, and retain the bag. When your stay is complete, please make sure the seat and bucket are clean, as well as the funnel and hose, if you used them. Please make sure all supplies are returned to the Toilet Supplies container. Directions: The address is 12672 N Ray Ave. Make your way to the intersection of N Sabino Canyon Parkway and Retreat Rd. in Summerhaven, AZ. Head east up the steep Retreat Rd., and make the right onto Tucson Ave., followed by a quick left onto what Google says is Ray Ave. Make an immediate right onto N. Ray Ave, and follow the dirt road until a steep driveway on the left appears. This driveway (and the other entrance 100 ft further on) provide access to the land. If trying to park off the driveway, enter the first driveway entrance to drive forward onto the approach and park, or enter the second driveway and then back onto the approach and park. Once parked (See Parking for additional instructions), access the land from the driveway according to the images. Parking: WARNING: Do not park on the driveway itself. There is a half-moon driveway that provides a way to either drive forward or backward onto the approach. Imagine pulling through the gate into Ranchito Paraiso - a desert paradise, seemingly remote, but just minutes from the town of Benson. First, you will feel calm and peaceful. On your right, you will see the corrals for our sweet donkeys, Miss Fiona, Haiku, and Felipe Ortiz, sureley hanging out with their sidekick naughty goats, Harley and Quinn. To the left, you will see an abundance of giant Mesquite trees and Kassandra - a lovingly renovated RV nicknamed the Micro Mansion. To the right of the south ranch gate, you will see the rustic elegance of Kasita Morada, the purple house. Our neighbors tend to be javelina, owls and coyotes. There have been occasional bobcats and lynx. We live in a ranching community, so neighbors are few and far. (there is a KOA across the north side of our unpaved road). You will love the stars and the moon and the quiet here at the Ranchito. It is a wonderful getaway. The views are phenomenal. Sunsets are magical and sunrises provide beauty and hope. You will be within 15 minutes to Kartchner caverns. Tombstone is 20 mins, whereas Bisbee, AZ vineyards and Tucson are about 40 mins away. The Ranchito is 3/4 mile north of I-10 and one mile from the Amtrak line that runs between LA and Texas. San Pedro golf course is a few hundred yards away. The Ranchito is an artsy retreat with quirky yet elegant accommodations and a wonderful space to breathe, create, write, binge on Netflix, or just take a break to enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine and bird watch. Let us know if you'd like to hang with the donkeys. They love to cuddle. Even though the grocery store is two miles away, you will feel remote. So far, elegant glamping is available in a lovingly renovated RV named Kassandra and a custom DIY tiny home (Kasita Morada). My name is Kareva and I am a professional host who works hard to make your stay memorable, comfortable, and rustically elegant. You will find the fridge stocked with fresh local farm eggs, butter, muffins, half and haf, French jam and cheese. There is a selection of teas. I grind fresh coffee beans. If you'd like a firepit under the stars, one will be ready for you already set up with kindle and a stack of wood. If you need more wood, you are welcome to gather it on the property. Both Kassandra and Kasita Morada have outdoor seating and dining areas, kitchens, and Smart TVs with high-speed Wifi. The Ranchito has beautiful mountain views. Pets are welcome, but please keep on a leash as we do not have individual guest yards as of yet. We do have our two amazing potbelly pigs, Jonah and Benjamin, who roam and forage. They are sweet and sociable and would love fruit and veggie scraps. Please keep dogs away from them and keep ranch gate closed. On your right, you will see the corrals for our sweet donkeys, Miss Fiona, Haiku, and Felipe Ortiz, sureley hanging out with their sidekick naughty goats, Harley and Quinn. To the left, you will see an abundance of giant Mesquite trees and Kassandra - a lovingly renovated RV nicknamed the Micro Mansion. To the right of the south ranch gate, you will see the rustic elegance of Kasita Morada, the purple house. Our neighbors tend to be javelina, owls and coyotes. There have been occasional bobcats and lynx. We live in a ranching community, so neighbors are few and far. (there is a KOA across the north side of our unpaved road). You will love the stars and the moon and the quiet here at the Ranchito. It is a wonderful getaway. The views are phenomenal. Sunsets are magical and sunrises provide beauty and hope. You will be within 15 minutes to Kartchner caverns. Tombstone is 20 mins, whereas Bisbee, AZ vineyards and Tucson are about 40 mins away. The Ranchito is 3/4 mile north of I-10 and one mile from the Amtrak line that runs between LA and Texas. San Pedro golf course is a few hundred yards away. The Ranchito is an artsy retreat with quirky yet elegant accommodations and a wonderful space to breathe, create, write, binge on Netflix, or just take a break to enjoy a cup of coffee or glass of wine and bird watch. Let us know if you'd like to hang with the donkeys. They love to cuddle. Even though the grocery store is two miles away, you will feel remote. So far, elegant glamping is available in a lovingly renovated RV named Kassandra and a custom DIY tiny home (Kasita Morada). Guests find both units quite stunning (check out our reviews via our website, ranchitoparaisoaz.com). My name is Kareva and I am a professional host who works hard to make your stay memorable, comfortable, and rustically elegant. You will find the fridge stocked with fresh local farm eggs, butter, muffins, half and haf, French jam and cheese. There is a selection of teas. I grind fresh coffee beans. If you'd like a firepit under the stars, one will be ready for you already set up with kindle and a stack of wood. If you need more wood, you are welcome to gather it on the property. Both Kassandra and Kasita Morada have outdoor seating and dining areas, kitchens, and Smart TVs with high-speed Wifi. The Ranchito has beautiful mountain views. Pets are welcome, but please keep on a leash as we do not have individual guest yards as of yet. We do have our two amazing potbelly pigs, Jonah and Benjamin, who roam and forage. They are sweet and sociable and would love fruit and veggie scraps. Please keep dogs away from them and keep ranch gate closed. Please keep children away from the donkeys and never let them approach them without my supervision. There may be other guests and their pets present on the property. If you are traveling with large animals, such as horses or cows, we can accommodate them also.
