Experience the northern lights, mountain hikes, and epic off-road trails when camping near Lake Louise.
Head to the Copper River Valley to set up camp in the Lake Louise area. This charming Alaskan town welcomes hikers in summer, skiers in winter, and anglers year-round. Lake Louise campgrounds typically feature amenities like fire rings, picnic tables, and access to a boat launch, while private cabin rentals nearby may offer bunk beds, linens, and access to restrooms and showers. Start off easy with a hike along the lake’s 45-minute interpretive trail, which starts from Lake Louise State Recreation Area. Anglers will enjoy reeling in lake trout and arctic grayling from the crisp water, while others might want to explore the Nelchina Public Use Area, right beside Lake Louise, for more hiking as well as opportunities for ATVing and snowmobiling. (Keep an eye out for the Nelchina caribou herd!) RV parks and tent campsites await just outside the boundary with full hookups, dump stations, firepits, hot showers, and wifi. Cabins also come with fully stocked kitchens, multiple bedrooms, and bathrooms. As night falls, winter campers may get the chance to watch a vibrant display of the northern lights.
