Denali's Doorstep Dry Camping Cabin

1 site · Lodging1 acre · Cantwell, AK
Just 30 minutes away from the South Entrance to Denali National Park! This is one of the BEST private camping cabins on the Parks Highway! Strategically located on a secluded homestead from the 1960s, you'll be able to see Mount McKinley on a clear day! The nearby Summit Lake is perfect for fly fishing and local hiking trails are accessible right from the front door. We've got a couple kayaks for rent if you'd like to explore the local lake. Experience a TRUE Alaskan living experience in this DRY cabin with Modern touches. Since there's no interior running water or septic system, we encourage our guests to bring a couple gallons of water and some water bottles for drinking/washing hands. We do provide a camping toilet (5 gallon bucket with seat and trash bags) but you'll have to haul the bags out with you when you leave - along with your trash. Electricity is provided via a Generator that we provide - but you will be responsible for refilling the fuel you use (Vitus Gas station 5 minutes from the cabin). There is heat provided via a Fuel Oil stove. To save costs on cleaning fees - you'll be responsible to leave the cabin in as good - if not better condition than you find it when you arrive. We practice "Leave No Trace" principles. Since we don't charge a cleaning fee, you'll also need to bring your own bedding (recommend a sleeping bag) and linens/towels etc. If you're flying in to Anchorage we recommend you stop in at the local Walmart and buy a cheap sleeping bag to carry with you on your journey throughout the state. The cost of a cheap sleeping bag and/or linen set is less than a typical cleaning fee. Trust us, the extra work to enjoy this cabin is worth it! It has the most INCREDIBLE scenery! Bring some dry firewood for S'mores at the fire pit and enjoy an Alaskan experience at Denali's Doorstep!

Kilcher Homestead MiracleMeadow

4 sites · Lodging, Tents5 acres · Homer, AK
A few things that make my place unique: My 5 acres is part of the famous 620-acre Kilcher Homestead, as seen on “Alaska the Last Frontier” TV show. I am the 7th of the 8 children; Atz and Otto are my brothers. There is a special feeling here vibrating in the land, and why our parents picked this spot. Full outdoor kitchen with all you need to cook and wash up; BBQ, hotplate, pure drinking water, spices, pots/pans/dishes etc. Outdoor hot shower and outhouse with great views! The atmosphere feels so pure, so silent, so wild yet comfortable. Drive-in access sometimes, or have to walk 15 minutes, and no issues with mosquitoes!!! You get to meet me and maybe other family members as you cruise around. Homer is 35 minutes away, with oodles of things to do there: great restaurants, a lap pool, fun shopping, etc. We have quite good cell reception here. Lots of options to enjoy your stay!

Darell B.’s Magical Mountain

3 sites · Lodging3 acres · Anchorage, AK
Sleepy Bear cabin was built as a retreat for my father here in Alaska. Our 1st year listed on Hipcamp our cabin came in second in best places to stay in Alaska with Hipcamp. The last 2 years we were still mentioned in the top 10 with some pretty stiff competition. Eagle River South Fork trail with stunning views of Eagle and Symphony lakes is a short bike ride away. Breathtaking Barbara Falls is in our valley 10mins away. You hike up to the falls and feels its breath. Our Mountain views at 2000' elevation in the alpine forest with the 7000' snow covered peaks at the back of the valley will awe you. Morning coffee on your private deck alone is worth the trip. We know you will love our little mountain get away. I came to Alaska in the 90's with the Coast Guard. It was always my dream to come back. Alaska has a hold on you no other place possesses. Since our move back almost 6 years ago, our family has blossomed. We love living here and want to share our love of Alaska with others.

Gulkana River Cabin

1 site · Lodging2 acres · Gulkana, AK
Obtained this property thru the BLM Townsite Trustee in the late 1970's.  Built the cabin at that time.  I live in Anchorage and use the cabin for recreational purpose. Learn more about this land:Welcome to the Gulkana River Cabin!Nicely furnished rustic cabin nestled among large spruce trees. Located near the Gulkana River Bridge (12 miles north of Glennallen). Cabin is also located just 8 miles from the historic Gakona Roadhouse and the Copper River. Beautiful views of the magnificent Wrangell Mountains abound in the area. Hipcampers will have access to all areas of the cabin and surroundings. The cabin is secluded and has a south facing view. This is a remote cabin (vehicle accessible) and directions/check-in are provided by phone once booking is complete. There is no running water, electricity, or WIFI, and toilet facilities are provided by an outhouse. Guests are encouraged tp bring their own water. It is preferred that Hipcampers bring their own sleeping bags, but clean linens and sleeping bags are provided if needed.  Cabin does have a propane cooking stove, battery powered lighting, a wood stove/firewood, and kitchen supplies (pots, pans, dishes, silverware). There is excellent cell phone service with AT&T and GCI. The "Award Winning" comfortable upstairs king bed is accessed by a factory made ladder as shown in the photographs. This ladder may be difficult for elderly or handicapped persons to climb. No showers are available at the cabin, but may be available the Gakona Lodge and Caribou Hotel in Glennallen.  This place is designed for the person who enjoys a rustic, natural, pleasant, peaceful setting, or who just wants a place to crash while on the road. It is available at an economical price for those who are willing to sacrifice a few amenities. Most guests love it. Lots of mosquitoes in the area during the first part of the summer. It is requested that guests leave the cabin in a clean, tidy condition when they depart for the next guests since nobody is available on site. If You Are Looking For A True Alaskan Experience, this is it!! I, personally, come here occasionally to unwind! Check in is by phone. The cabin is 1/3 mile from the highway. Road is not plowed in the winter.Again. guests are required to clean the cabin when they leave and leave it in good condition for the next guests since there is no on-site person.
