High Heifer Draft Farm

This is a horse farm located in between Chattanooga and Nashville just 7 miles off the i24, and only 8 miles from Decherd (Wallmart etc)/Winchester and all the beautiful lakes and Manchester Tennessee (Bonnaroo!). 

Offering 2 full RV hookups and 2 with just water and electric, the farm is no frills, yet quiet and peaceful. There is a shower/restroom at the barn, and plenty of space for camping and turn around for the larger motor homes. We are perfect for a one or two night layover.

Guests can  bring their dog so long as it remains on a leash. There is no wifi or laundry service!

Southport Cave

Southport Saltpetre Cave was mined during the Civil War for Saltpetre to manufacture black powder. David Crockett got his Saltpetre from this cave. The property also has hiking trails and primitive camping.Learn more about this land:We offer primitive cabins and tent camping in a forest setting. Several caves, springs, streams, bluffs, wildlife, and views make for a great camping experience. We also offer marked hiking trails. Nearby areas include Stillhouse Falls State Natural Area, The Farm, many wineries and distillers, home of James K Polk, and David Crockett SP.

Fort Bluff Camp Site

This camp site has one of the most beautiful bluff views in all of northern Alabama. The mounds located on the bluff date back 10,000-12,000 years ago to the paleo Indian era. You can hike for days and climb up and down the bluff to experience the base of the rocks.

This 10,000-12,000 year old Indian site with mounds created by the Indians is one of the most beautiful sites in Northern Alabama. 

Bring a tent or sleep under the stars on this memorable bluff. 

Hike over the 162 acres and scale the bluff for an exciting hike along the base of the rocks where Indians also camped long ago.

Plenty of available firewood from deadfall.  You can pick up dead wood along the logging road as you're driving into camp.

Tent Camping w/privacy & great view

Learn more about this land:This is a 57 acre tract of raw farm land.  It consists of pastures as well as woods.  It is private and easy to get to.  It is 4 miles off of I 65 and 55 miles south of Nashville.  There are deer, wild turkeys, and many species of birds and there is absolutely no hunting.  There is a pond but unsure if fish live there.  Great place to hike.

We would like to offer overnight camping opportunities for hikers and bikers exploring the Mountain Mist trail network on Monte Sano Mountain. 

You'll find our camping spot conveniently located just off the Goat Trail, providing a serene setting for your outdoor adventure.

Please note that parking facilities are not provided on our property. We kindly ask you to make your own parking arrangements and understand that we cannot offer suggestions on where to park. Additionally, it's important to clarify that we are not affiliated in any way with Monte Sano State Park.

The Goat Trail, mentioned in the attached text, is a scenic 2.5-mile singletrack trail that leads from the Three Benches to Mountain Mist. This trail, like many others on Monte Sano, is characterized by its challenging terrain, filled with roots and rocks. Hikers will encounter beautiful natural features, such as the sinks, and enjoy the craftsmanship of man-made stone pathways, bridges, and creek crossings along the way.
