Ryan Park Campground

You don’t have to be a history buff to find the background at Ryan Park Campground super interesting: it was built in the 1930s and housed German and Italian POWs during World War II!

Very little of the grounds from that era remain intact, but the 42 sites and 140-person group site pay homage to the past with little tidbits of history throughout the park. In Medicine Bow National Forest at 8000 feet, these grounds sit on 3 million acres of Wyoming’s finest grassland and national forests—bobcat, black bear, coyote, elk, moose, and deer roam free (pack your food up tight!) and there are hundreds of miles of cycling and hiking trails, fishing streams, and scenic drives to take. You’ll be surrounded by aspens and evergreens that light up with color in the fall, and make the search for a s’more stick super easy on the forest floor.
