Sunset Campground

101 sites · RV, Tent

Steps away from your site at Sunset Campground is the Rim Trail, where the most famous hikes and hoodoos reside in Bryce Canyon.

You can not only camp along the rim, you can enjoy a li'l privacy, too, with a loop layout and lots of vegetation separating the sites. Restrooms, a summer dump station, and water access make livin’ easy. And, given its RV, tent and walk-in sites, you can expect a full house in the peak season—but that's all the more reason to camp here; you’ll leave with stunning views AND new friends!

Sunset was like fire!
Sunset the night we were there was like the sky was on fire. It was a beautiful place. The overlooks are very much the same so I recommend hiking the trails and then driving to the last overlook for sunset. Don’t forget to see the arch.

No reservations available when I went in October, so get a spot early before the first-come-first-served spots are gone! Nice flushing toilets!

We went in early February and it was nearly abandoned. Everything was covered in about 3 feet of snow so we had to dig out the camp table and fire pit with a piece of wood we found. It was cold but so peaceful. Be sure and dress and pack for the weather if tent camping and bring tons of firewood to stay toasty in the cold evenings and brisk mornings. The other 2 people in the entire campground chose to sleep in their cars so to each their own.

My kids loved the swap table at camp. Shuttle is best to use because parking lots fill up early. Make sure to sign up for the Moon Hike lotto and have proper hiking shoes!

What an amazing experience. This site is great, just a 5 minute walk to the canyon rim, which makes it so easy to head over and catch the hoodoos at sunrise/sunset. Definitely worth staying for a few nights. Everyone we encountered was friendly. We were very fortunate to score a first-come, first-served site, even though we arrived late.
