Mongaup Pond Campground

154 sites · RV, Tent

At 120 acres, Mongaup Pond hardly qualifies as one.

It’s massive -teeming with fish, and secluded enough to feel supremely wild. The densely wooded forest that surrounds it is premium habitat for deer, bear, foxes, and turkeys. Whether you’re a hiker, a boater, or a hammock floater, you’ll find something to make you smile at Mongaup Pond Campground. There are canoes and kayaks for renting, grills for barbecuing, and friendly neighbors for chatting it up. Head to the beach for a little socializin’ or back to your campsite for total privacy.

Just got back from Mongaup State Campground (MC) and wanted to post my review of our first time visit, two-night, four-family, (10 people) two separate site, Labor Day stay. The park rangers and staff were very friendly and helpful and the groundkeepers keep the grounds impeccably clean and well-manicured, even after a busy holiday weekend. There are M/F flush bathrooms conveniently located about 100 yards from most of the campsites along with access to clean outdoor water faucets. You are discouraged from washing your dishes at your individual campsites, instead there is a very large stainless steel industrial, two basin restaurant style sink with H/C water that you can haul all your dirty dishes to, just remember to bring your own sponge.

Crown Jewel of the Catskills. Try to book a waterfront site - you get a million dollar view for $30/night...

This is such a great spot. It's very family oriented, the campsites are maybe 20-30 feet apart, but it has beautiful spots right on the water. Pop your kayak in right from your campsite. Clean showers and bathrooms, nice staff. Def going back!
