Tips for Snagging a Campsite Reservation

  • Stillwater Campground typically opens two weeks prior to peak season in early May. During these first two weeks, all sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • From the start of the peak season (mid-May) until season’s end (October), all of the campground’s 129 sites are available by reservation six months in advance. Reserve spots online or by calling (877) 444-6777.
  • Book well in advance for weekends and summer visits, when the forest is busiest.
  • When to Go

Stillwater Campground is typically open from early May through October. For exact opening dates, contact the Arapaho National Forest Ranger Station at 970-295-6600. Summer visitors should be prepared for regular afternoon thunderstorms, while spring and fall visitors should bring equipment for cold weather camping. In autumn, the area’s cottonwood and aspen trees put on a fall foliage show.
