This small campground is located more in the outskirts of the park, yet also remains easily accessible to everything the area has to offer.

There are great views of Soda Bay from up there, where you can watch fellow visitors enjoying the day on their boats. And if that’s not enough, you can head on over to the Lake Overlook point to see all of the activity and wildlife on Clear Lake!

We enjoyed our stay on lot 121. Enjoying having a spot on the outskirts of the campgrounds. The location was very private in mid May with only a few other campers around. Enjoyed multiple deer sightings but be ready for evening with plenty of bug spray. Firepits height hindered our ability to enjoy sitting around a campfire. Central bathroom had a lot of bugs. Bathroom with shower was Much nicer. Local trails were easy and enjoyable.

Upper Bayview is quite an uphill hike from the day use/beach area of the Park; if that's where you are going to want to be, consider a site farther down the hill. On the other hand, if you want a bit more privacy and quiet, sites 119 through 127 on the outside of the loop are all fantastic. They're also a bit of a walk to the restroom, which is not quite as central as the campground makes it appear (in reality, it's closer to where site #113 is shown on the map.) We had a beautiful view of Mt Konocti from site #125.

Additional note: info on hipcamp right now is wrong. Sites have firepits, potable water, flush toilets, showers, and are pet-friendly.

Biggest campsite I have ever stayed in. Would be great for large groups (and it seemed that's what most were doing around us). Bit of a misnomer in its name - since you can't really see the water at all, at least in summer. I'd call it a great campground but the other campgrounds in the park seemed just a bit more scenic, which made the Upper Bayview spot less desireable. If I go again, I'll try to get a premium spot in the Kelsey creek campground where sites sit directly on the water.
