Riley Creek Campground

Riley Creek Campground is great for groups and families looking for both convenience and the rugged beauty of Alaska’s Denali National Park.

The campground is conveniently located near the highway, but you might hear some traffic noise. This area is wooded, with some privacy between campsites, and just steps from Riley Creek. You’ll find a general store just a short walk away, where you can pick up any necessities, as well as great hiking and biking trails nearby. Enjoy!

Basecamp at the entrance to Denali National Park
I camped at Riley Creek in July 2022 in my Tacoma with a rooftop tent (GFC). Riley Creek Campground is located right at the entrance of Denali Nat'l Park at the junction of Parks Highway (Hwy 3) and Parks Road. The bus stop to venture further into the park is just up the road so this campground makes for a great basecamp for your first night in park. Expect densely forested sites with no views, lots of other campers, and cool weather at night during the short summer season. This campground was not impacted by mosquitos during my stay, which was a welcome reprieve. There is a well stocked general store on site and plenty of restaurant venues just outside the park gates. If you can snag a site, I'd recommend spending your second night at Savage River deeper in the park for a change of scenery and more expansive views.

Very large campsite with showers incl. towels for a small fee and a small store. We used this campground as our "base camp" then took the camper bus all the way to Wonder Lake the next day. Try to get a campsite near the river where we didn't hear cars
