Cabin on the river
Loved the little, tidy cabin and the sound of the river. Lots of spots to hang out, especially enjoyed the hidden beach spot and the hikes from the site. Patrick and Carmen were helpful. Will definitely return. Thank you!

the location was absolutely stunning & the cabin itself was incredibly cozy & well stocked. cabin was private & felt like it’s own universe. carmen & patrick were so kind coordinating travel details; wish we’d been there longer & had the chance to say hi! big bonus - their sweet gentle pup came to say hi a couple times!

Cabin on the river
We loved it here! Carmen and Patrick were wonderful hosts-so friendly, thoughtful and helpful. The sight is beautiful! We spent a whole day wandering the local swimming holes on foot and enjoying the secret spots nearby. Carmen and Patrick provide great directions to many off the beaten path destinations. The house had everything we needed, it was especially well stocked for cooking. We also really enjoyed the nearby Smith River and Redwood hiking recommendation. Beautiful spot! We hope to be back soon. Added bonus-Carmen and Patrick recently had a litter of kittens and made sure we had ample kitten snuggles.

Cabin on the river
Beautiful area and thoughtful host!
My husband and I had a wonderful weekend away on this property by the river. Carmen was a wonderful host, and we loved the personal touch of a freshly picked bouquet from her garden upon arrival. The place is rustic and quaint and a perfect place to rest between exploring the property and the area. We loved the guest book with Carmen’s recommendations and thoroughly enjoyed the swimming holes! During our stay, we ventured to the coast and hiked through the redwoods. The Smith River is stunning, and we explored many points of access. Such a special experience!

Cabin on the river
Patrick’s hideout cabin was perfect for us, rustic and cozy. The location is beautiful next to the river. It was fun to take day trips to the beach and be able to hike and swim along the smith river. Such a great memory.

Cabin on the river
It was an honor to be the first Hip Camp guests at Patrick's Hideaway! Took a chance with zero reviews, but are so happy we did! The setting alongside the Middle Fork of the Smith River is gorgeous. The former owner of the property was a gardener who spent 30 years enhancing the park-like setting and now Patrick, his wife Carmen, and their son Noah are continuing the labor of love. They are wonderful hosts—going above and beyond in many ways!
The cabin sits well below the main house and above the river and is very private. It is clean, comfortable, and has just about everything you could want to aid in preparing meals including spices, oil, coffee, chocolate, sugar and flour, stainless cookware, a crock-pot, a new Nutribullet (yay, glamping smoothies!), and all the dishes/cutlery/glassware that you need.
Access to the beautiful beaches and pretty swimming holes, fire pits with wood provided, card games and dinners under the grape arbor, waking to the sound of the river and the fresh breeze coming through the open windows, fresh eggs!, Carmen's guide book, napping in the hammock, the pretty potted flowers, watching a Cicada come out of hibernation, daily visits from the farm animals, and time spent just quietly staring into the crystal clear waters of the Smith were all perfect and memorable. We also enjoyed getting to know Patrick, Carmen, and Noah (who allow you as much privacy as you want), who we hope to visit again soon … if they ever have any open reservations again!
