I bought the deserted kiwi orchard in 1997, thinking it would be a place of healing. As the days and weeks progressed, I felt that all I wanted to do was to learn what the land had to teach me. So I turned all my attention and intention toward Nature, and began to reclaim the orchard from the blackberry overgrowth. As the years have gone by, I have added many other crops. Now we produce fruits, flowers, herbs, Microgreens & Vegetables... & I am still learning!! We would be happy to create a cleansing refreshment or meal for campers if notified in advance. We are happy to host campers who have a passion for Nature and are interested in sustainable living and seeing the beauty of the Sierra Foothills.

Beautiful and peaceful. I fell asleep listening to the coyotes, foxes and great horned owls just about every night.

Very quiet and peaceful farm setting. Site 3 had nice shading under a large tree for chilling during the warmer parts of the day. The produce bag that Ruthanne provided was filled with delicious and fresh goodness, with a couple things I’ve never tried before. Plan on returning in the future. -we tent camped for 1 night.

We really wanted to stay here and had plans for a bike ride and exploring the area. Unfortunately, we could not get our camper van into the spot even though camper vans were listed as being accommodated. There was no way to make the 90 degree turn into the orchard. So we had to cut our trip short and go home. We’re still trying to work out a refund with the host but so far that has not happened, weeks later. The host has agreed we are owed a refund, but for some reason they can’t figure it out, even though we submitted a refund request per Hipcamp’s instructions (host did not respond within the required 48 hour time period). We wanted to wait until things got sorted out to leave a review but Hipcamp is only giving us one more day to review so we feel we have to leave a negative review. I’m sure it would be a nice place to stay but the host has to work out the logistics… both how to get into the tight spot and what to do if things don’t work out and a refund is required.

kiwi bower oasis
What a delight to camp under a bower of kiwi vines, serenaded by a northern mockingbird as the sun went down. My first HipCamp experience was a great one. The produce bag add-on was so very worth it!
