At River Ranch Campgrounds, Tuolumne, CA we offer a range of activities to make your stay enjoyable. Take a hike on one of the many trails winding through the Stanislaus National Forest at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountains, or cast a line in the North Fork of the Tuolumne River or Basin Creek for some great native fishing. After a long day of exploration, come back to the campgrounds and relax by the firepit or enjoy a picnic in one of our many picnic areas. Activities in the campground include horseshoes and volleyball. We pride ourselves on blending nature and family camping in a safe, serene environment. We offer water hookups and centrally located restrooms with heated showers to make your stay comfortable and convenient. Important notes: We are off-grid. There is no electricity in the campground with exception of a small solar powered system to operate our entry gate, guest Wi-Fi and intercom. Outlets are not available for guest use. We do not offer a trash service. We are a "pack it in, pack it out" campground. All water is labeled non-potable. Guests may purify/filter at their discretion. Our campground is home to wildlife. You can minimize unwanted encounters by properly storing food and garbage. We have one central bathhouse with 3 flushing toilets. Sites vary in distance from a short walk to a short drive. The bathhouse has 4 shower stalls in the rear of the building. The bathhouse is closed from 10pm to 8am. The bathhouse does not have electricity or interior lighting. Our Hacienda section ("H" Sites) has vault toilets. Portables are located throughout the campground for your convenience.

BEST CAMPSITE EVER!
This is one of the best camping experience we ever had. We went there last weekend and it was the most peaceful sleep in my life. The sound of the creek by our campsite was perfect. Bathroom was clean, host was friendly and our campsite 2R has good enough shades. We ghaf toddlers and two dogs on leash , they had so so much fun playing, we went hiking during sunset and in the morning too. Love it! Highly recommended and will definitely go book again.

Small but great, quiet facility. I made a mistake and was able to re-book a different site super quick. Great hosts and communications.

Best camping trip ever!
The campground was beautiful, absolutely well maintained, and the staff was kind and accommodating. I would absolutely recommend this campsite to anyone looking to camp in this area. My family and I had a blast! We arrived on a Monday and didn’t have any campers around until Thursday.

Check in was easy. They have WiFi if you need within the check in station. They also have little things like volleyballs to borrow as there is a volleyball court. The flushable bathrooms were clean and the showers were pretty decent. Showers are closed from 10pm to 8am, and there aren’t any lights. We stayed 1M sites decently leveled, nice trees surrounding our campsite. The other campsites were visible from us, but couldn’t hear them. There was a church retreat going on during most of the day, playing music, etc but they stopped during quiet hours. There’s wood there for sale if you need. There’s also a couple potable water spigots throughout the campground. The walk down to the river is short and refreshing. There’s a lil area where the river flows to where there are some rocks lined up across that make for a decent area to hang out, and fully submerge yourself. Just be mindful that you do have to pack out all of your trash which isn’t a big deal, but it could be for some. Overall, would definitely be back!

So much potential
Overall, it worked out for our one night after 12 hours of driving. I reached out before booking and asked about a few spots and recommendations on a spot that would be secluded from others, as much as possible. We arrived to find we were put dead in the middle of 3 camp spots. The campers tents were basically next to our fire pit. Not at all what we were told when we booked. The gentleman up front was as accommodating as possible. He gave us 2 other sites to choose between, one was next to a group with 8 tents, and we settled on the last spot. The grounds around camp were filthy. Lots of trash along the creek area as well. The showers don’t open till 8am, huge downer for those traveling and leaving early. It’s a great place for large groups, which there were many. So if you’re looking for a more peaceful camp spot, this may not be the place. I will say the gentleman who greeted us was very friendly and helpful with the situation, which saved it from being a nightmare.
