It was our first time here, we did tent camping on Lakeside 2. Since it's a weekday, we had the whole place by ourselves 😀 We tried this out for a possible site for our church camping, it's perfect for a big group, and would work for single families too.
The drive is ok, we were instructed to use google map and it was on point. The last maybe 15-20 is very windy road, 3000+ ft elevation next to the cliff, most without barriers. The last 5min you take this sharp turn, go up a steep hill, drive thru very very narrow paved single road, and take lots of sharp turns, very close to the cliff. Drive very slowly to watch incoming cars and let each other pass. Only come in the daytime, it's very dangerous at night.
When we arrived, we didnt know where to go. There was no signage, we had to ask around for our site location. I would rec. to screenshot the camp map to locate your site in case you lose signal to call the host. We had freedom to choose any area by the lake.
They have all sport areas, amphitheater, and 2 lake areas. Bathroom was very clean. Hot water is great. They have some water hoses outside and power outlets in the gazebo.
We used the boat on the lake, it was really nice. We didnt swim in it though, it looked very swampy. There is small "beach" area with sand for kids too. No mosquitos, but lots of bees and huge tree spiders that camped on top of our tent.
But overall, it was awesome. The deer family was very cool! We plan to come back!
