Ratchford Buffalo Farms is nestled in the heart of the Ozarks on roughly 500 acres. Where our Buffalo, Cattle and other animals graze in the meadows and fields and roam the hills and hollows and drink from 11 free flowing springs. My family has lived in these parts for over 150 years ever since my great grandfather settled here from Georgia. This land has been used for may things. From raising cotton, corn, hogs, cattle and at one time my family was one of the largest strawberry producers in the state and always raised a large vegetable garden. I can still remember my daddy plowing this ground with a big black team of mules. For the past 20 years we have raised Buffalo. But the commitment has always been the same. Taking the time to help your neighbor, even if he does not ask. Keeping your word, a man is only as good as his word . Treating people fairly and with respect, if you can not respect others you can not respect yourself. And for each generation to leave the land in better shape than when you started farming it.
Cabin was easy to access and exactly as described. Had a wonderful time. The personal tour of the farm with L.C. as the host was very enjoyable. It was fun to get up close with the animals and feed them. L.C. and my daughter who has an Animal science degree and experience with animal rescue had an an engaging discussion related his animal rescue and care activities.
10 out of 10! If you love the outdoors and simple beautiful cabins, then this is the place. Plus he has all sorts of animals on some of the most amazing land in Arkansas! We will be back.
LC is a wonderful host! The cabin was cozy and perfect for a week long stay. It was clean & well stocked. Our blind dog had it mapped out the first night & had no trouble getting around. The only thing I would suggest is some screens on the kitchen windows & doors so you can open them to enjoy the cooler weather. The farm tour was what I was most excited about & it did not disappoint! Giving a young cow her bottle, cuddling with Leann the emu, getting snot & drool all over my hands from the Buffalo…all worth it lol. We even got to see 2 brand new Buffalo babies from afar. Thank you so much LC! I hope we can come back in the near future.
What a great experience! The cabin was clean and cozy. LC went out of his way to make us feel welcome and ensure our 7 year old left with memories he will always treasure. Highly recommend a visit. We will definitely be back.
