Camping and glamping farm stays in Anglesey countryside, close to the coast

Everything that we love about North Wales is within reach of the seven back-to-basics camping pitches and the single self-contained cabin at Plas Llanfair. Whether you choose to camp or glamp here, you will find yourself in rural surroundings with mountain views and a short walk to the closest beach. Situated on Anglesey’s Cymyran Strait in the fields of a farm which dates back to the 1700s, Plas Llanfair is just a few steps off the island’s coastal path.

The sights, sounds and surroundings at Plas Llanfair are shared whether you book a pitch for your tent or a stay in the cabin, Tŷ Perllan – but that’s where the similarity ends. As the name suggests, Tŷ Perllan (AKA Orchard House) is surrounded by fruit trees, some of which are a century old. It offers self-catering accommodation that’s cute and completely private with its own outside space, en-suite facilities and kitchenette. Meanwhile, on the other side of the farmhouse, the camping pitches are for those who prefer old-fashioned, off-grid camping with just the basics taken care of. Pitches are mown into the long grass and spacious enough for a tent and a car. Toilets are portable but kept clean and the site’s single shower is blissfully warm.

Owner Clare is always on hand but not ever present. Typically, she’ll give you space to get settled then come to see if you need anything. And whether you’re after fresh eggs for your breakfast, tips on where to go for dinner or directions to the beach, she's happy to help. The closest place to reach the coast is a mere 10-minute walk away but they might suggest Rhosneigr for watersports or Rhoscolyn for swimming, both within 15 minutes’ drive.

For walking – the coastal path beckons and for wildlife – there’s RSPB Valley Wetlands, just over a mile from here. Like the campsite, it sits under the flight path for RAF Valley where pilots train in all manner of aircraft (typically only Monday-Friday, during daylight hours). If you're after uninterrupted peace and quiet outside of weekends, the reserve and Plas Llanfair itself may not be for you. But for most who visit this special spot, the aeronautics and occasional roar of jet engines are an added attraction – just check out the glowing reviews.

Tŷ Perllan, or Orchard House is an idyllic Anglesey hideaway with an abundance of wildlife. Unwind at this unique and scenic cosy luxury chalet with amazing views of Snowdonia across our 5 acre field and just minutes from beautiful beaches. Situated with the Anglesey Coastal Path quite literally on the doorstep and near RAF Valley for plane spotting, this private chalet has its own decking, seating area, parking and fire pit. Over 25s only.

Super little campsite within a meadow - with pitches cut out by the long grass and you choose your pitch on line before arrival. Great to have usb's for our phones. Easy and clear directions to the site. Clare was welcoming and really helpful.

Beautiful remote meadow setting. With the best camping shower I’ve ever experienced! Easy access to lots of lovely walks and sites. Great view of the local ‘top gun’ school too 🛩️

Great quiete pitch.
Tent
the pitch is tucked away in the corner of the field away from the main gate and any potential traffic but close to the facilities. Great. Also far enough away from the chickens to not be blasted by the Cockrill in the morning!

Beautiful, scenic and quiet site. We stayed in the paddock which was very peaceful and spacious. Clare (host) was great with communications and super friendly. Hot shower was very welcome. Everything was spotless and well organised. We will definitely be returning!

Tŷ Perllan or Orchard House a luxury studio pavilion is located at Plas Llanfair, Anglesey, North Wales. The farm dates back to the 1700s and has recently been sympathetically renovated. Tŷ Perllan is located within the farm's orchard with pear, apple, damson and other fruit trees - some more than 100 years old. Plas Llanfair is an exclusive farmstay located on the Cymyran Strait, with the Anglesey Coastal Path on the doorstep. A short 10 minute walk to Traeth Cymyran Beach, with beaches at Trearddur Bay, Rhoscolyn and Rhosneigr just 15 minutes by car. Ideally located for aircraft spotting at RAF Valley Monday to Friday, plentiful wildlife with the RSPB Wetlands 5 minutes by car and have wonderful 360 degree views of Snowdonia, the Llyn Peninsula and Mynydd Twr Holyhead Mountain. Over 25s only.
Nearby attractions

Anywhere on Anglesey is within reach as it’s just 25 miles across and 20 miles north to south with the North Wales Expressway making a quick route from the Menai Strait towards the site. The closest attractions are beaches, wildlife reserves and walking routes. The campsite sits right on the Anglesey Coastal Path. Head south on it and in about 10 minutes you reach the sands of Traeth Cymyran Beach. Continue and you reach Rhosneigr Beach (or drive there in 15 minutes from the campsite) where you can rent paddleboards, kayaks and surfboards from Funsport Rhosneigr Surf Sport or Gecko Surf School. The area is also popular for kitesurfing and lessons are available. The sheltered, family-friendly sands of Borth Wen Beach near Rhoscolyn and Treaddur Bay are also both about a 15-minute drive from the campsite. Closer even that that is the RSPB Valley Wetlands, just over a mile from site (and a five-minute drive) where you can see tufted ducks, shovellers and other wildfowl all year around. Further afield there’s Beaumaris Castle and Plas Newydd House and Gardens both overlooking the Menai Strait – and Snowdonia National Park on the other side of it (all around half an hour’s drive).

Food and drink

The site is rural and not within easy walking distance of any shops or eateries but you can’t get fresher eggs than those laid on site – just let Clare know you want some the day before. If you’re into small batch beers, head over the bridge to Holyhead where you’ll find the Bragdy Cybi tap room and bottle shop. If you’re spending the day on the beach at Rhosneigr, you’ll find a range of cafes, shops and eateries there.
