Description

You might want to consider bringing along a fan when visiting the Burr Oak area where, depending on the time of the year, even the night time temperatures can make your tent feel more like a convection oven. These 41 sites come equipped with water and electricity hookups as well as bathroom and shower facilities. A nice bonus of this campground is that there are three different trash receptacle areas so you don’t have to lug around all of your garbage and risk spilling trash juice all over yourself and your belongings. Seriously, it sucks. Trust us. The Brazos Bend Equestrian Camp is located at the departure point for the 13-mile equestrian trail, you and your steed can rest up before the big trek at this modest nook of 19 primitive sites, equipped with picnic tables, outhouses and horse-drinking water (definitely not to be confused with human drinking water). With 35 sites located on the bend of the Big Creek River at the Red Buck area, you’ll want to keep an eye out for large reptiles roaming around that have enough bite force to make a lion look slow. Most sites here come with picnic tables, water and electricity, with the exception of the 15 primitive sites that are pretty bare bones. Showers and restroom facilities are also available.

If you want to see Wildlife, this is the park to go to! I counted over 40 alligators on one of my hikes. Beautiful scenery and lots of outdoor activities to do.
