Can you wild camp in England national parks?

A scenic view of England

In England, wild camping is not generally allowed in national parks without permission from the landowner. However, there are some exceptions, particularly in more remote areas where wild camping is tolerated as long as campers follow the "Leave No Trace" principles and pitch their tents late in the day and leave early the next morning.

For instance, wild camping is tolerated in some parts of Dartmoor National Park, which has a byelaw that allows camping on certain open moorland areas for up to two consecutive nights. In other national parks, such as the Lake District and the Peak District, wild camping might be tolerated in more remote areas, but it's always best to seek permission from the landowner or opt for a designated campsite.

It's important to note that my expertise is on camping in the Cotswolds, but you can find more private, secluded camping in England with Hipcamp.
