Meg’s land is absolutely beautiful. I have stayed at many Hipcamp properties and this is by far my favourite. You are surrounded by natural beauty all around. Meg is an excellent host and was incredibly helpful. From the moment I arrived she made me feel at home. It is easy to tell that she is passionate about her property and loves to share it with fellow nature-lovers. I definitely recommend spending the extra couple of bucks to have the composting toilet; It was very convenient. The location is also very convenient. It allows you to be away from it all, but only 15-20 minutes from anything you need or want. I highly recommend Meg’s 103 acres for your next camping trip to the area. I know I’ll be back!

Lisa is a wonderful host — calm, friendly, and with great communication throughout our stay. Her hospitality and attention to comfort were amazing. She kept checking in to make sure we had everything we needed.
It was a bit cold during our visit since there’s no electricity in the caravan, but Lisa made sure we had enough warmers to stay cozy. The propane stove worked perfectly, and the kitchen was well-equipped for making coffee and tea.
We probably chose the wrong season — early fall or summer would be ideal — but the cold was still manageable for us. Overall, it was a peaceful and memorable experience. We’ll definitely be back!

Beautiful location, it’s as quiet as the description makes it out to be. The campsite area that was provided was well kept and tidy. Some of the amenities were not available due to the lateness of the season and were disclosed prior to arrival. It’s a pull-in site that I feel limits the overall length of vehicle and trailer to get brother location so I’d recommend you check with the host about that if you’ve got a larger rig and may need to coordinate things. I’m relatively new to backing in trailers and I got it parked without any damage (and no spotter). I didn’t have an opportunity to explore the land as much as I wanted, there’s so much to explore. Eric was very welcoming, and provided ample firewood.

This is the second time we stayed at Black Maple Farm, and it was just as wonderful as the first. The site is clean, well-organized, and very pleasant, and our toddler absolutely loved helping feed and care for the animals. The hosts are warm, helpful, and lovely to chat with. I highly recommend this campsite- we will certainly be back next summer!

First of all, id like to thank Brian and Jen for welcoming us on to their land. This was a fantasfic experience. Brain ended up meeting us and welcoming us to his area. He then took all of our stuff to site with his side by side.
This spot was beautiful, set up extremly well and maintained and very quiet. We had a canoe to use, and although the water is shallow and weedy, a canoe here was a great time. We paddled and explored various islands.
Night time the stars we great although the moon was too bright for them to truly shine, we were able to see saturn and its rings using our telescope.
On our 4th and final day, brian and i had agreed on a time and he met us, using his side by side once again to cart our stuff back. He even helped us scour the site to make sure we didnt leave anything behind.
Overall, it was an acceptional stay and the hospitality and kindness of Brian made it a trip to remember.

Excellent weekend getaway! Elisabeth's property is quiet and private. She's always available if you need anything extra, even suggesting nearby places or plans.
There are also plenty of deer, very beautiful. We'll be back again.

We had a great time at The Ridge Retreat! The campsite is beautiful, well-maintained, and the views are amazing. The fire pits were perfect, and we really appreciated how easy it was to set up camp near the road at the top of the hill. That spot is very convenient for loading and unloading gear, though being close to the road does mean you’ll occasionally hear passing cars and nearby dogs. Next time, we’d probably choose a spot closer to the water for more privacy and atmosphere.
The trail leading down to the water and lower campsites is long with steep inclines, so be prepared for a bit of a trek. We brought a wagon, which made transporting our things manageable—without it, carrying everything would’ve been tough. The dock and water setup are absolutely gorgeous. We spent most of our days down there soaking in the views, and our dog had the best time playing by the water. We didn’t swim ourselves, and while we didn’t catch any fish, just being by the water was incredibly relaxing.
The host was wonderful—very friendly, accommodating of our late arrival, and made sure we had plenty of firewood. Overall, we’d definitely recommend The Ridge Retreat to anyone looking for a scenic, peaceful camping experience with a balance of convenience and adventure.

She was lovely and provided us with everything we could need, a couple possible tent sites and had stunning views of the fall colours. What an amazing property! The site was exactly as described. We needed for nothing. Victor brought by brand new camp chairs for us and sweetly asked, "Can I come in?" when he arrived at the site with them. We loved the trails. We spotted a porcupine, a deer, an owl, heard raccoons, beavers and countless frogs and birds. We will be returning!

My husband and I came here for our first wedding anniversary. We had an amazing time! Choleena and Larry were the perfect hosts- super helpful, non-intrusive and even told us we could check out at anytime on our last day. The cabin was also great, very clean and well taken care of. Super close to Perth which is a very charming town. We would certainly love to return!

The pictures truly don’t do this spot justice! It’s very beautiful and spacious. My mother even took a photo of the outhouse because she couldn’t believe how clean and nice it was 😂. Very private and quiet space. View of the water was definitely a hike but absolutely worth it. An excellent time was had by all! Already planning to visit again! ☺️

Another amazing stay at this serene country paradise! Kelly and her family are wonderful hosts; they gave us all the privacy we wanted, but were certainly there if we needed anything. On the other hand, Sasha (the dog), Lucy (the cat), and the chickens (ruled over by a noisy but amusing black rooster), visited regularly, adding whimsey and comfort to the visit! We look forward to our next visit; it's starting to feel like family!

It was an amazing spot to stay, the outhouse was super clean, it was very quiet and peaceful!
It is definitely a hike to get to the water from where we decided to put our tent up so we will definitely remember to bring the wagon next time, to make bringing things up/down a bit easier.
We brought our dogs and they LOOVED It - soo many squirrels to chase and they loved jumping off the dock

Wonderful tent camping site. Victor has gone above and beyond most other campsite operators providing a lovely wooded campsite with an elevated tent platform, great firepit, firewood as well as fire starter and kindling, potable water, propane bbq, screened dining tent, countertop for food prep, all in a private woodland setting yet within walking distance to hot shower and flush toilet. Highly recommend!

Overview
About
An hour southwest of Ottawa, Murphys Point Provincial Park is situated on Big Rideau Lake, part of the Rideau Canal UNESCO World Heritage Site. History and heritage form a huge part of the park’s identity and its summer interpretive programs, while the area’s nature and bird watching opportunities are supreme—warblers, hawks, owls, and orioles are frequently spotted. In addition to traditional car camping, Murphys Point Provincial Park offers water-accessible backcountry campsites for paddlers, plus a camp cottage with a kitchen, a glamping tent, and a deluxe yurt.
Notable campgrounds
- Best for groups: The Round Lake Campground has three lakeside group sites that can accommodate between 12 and 50 people each.
- Best for big RVs: Hogg Bay Campground can accommodate large vehicles with pull-through sites and electrical hookups.
- Best for tents: Fallows Campground is designed with tents in mind (though some spots do accommodate small trailers).
Tips for snagging a campsite
- The Ontario Parks system allows reservations up to five months in advance. If you’re counting on booking a yurt, cabin, or deluxe tent, note that these particular reservations fill up very early on.
- If you miss out on a spot, check availability again at the four-month mark—this is the earliest that reservations can be changed or cancelled so you might be lucky and pick up a newly available site.
- If everything seems full, you can also wait until the very last minute. If existing campers leave early, they get a full refund when they cancel their last night before 12pm. If any free spots are going to open up, it will be right around noon.
When to go
Murphys Point Provincial Park is open from mid-May until mid-October and again from mid-December to mid-March for winter day use. Like many parks, Murphys Point bans alcohol on Victoria Day and for the 10 days preceding it. Both Canada Day weekend (July 1) and the August Civic Holiday weekend (the first Monday of the month) are very busy. July and August are popular times to visit.
Know before you go
- If you want to go backcountry camping, you’ll need an interior camping permit. Print them at home (within 14 days of your trip) or get one at the park office when you arrive.
- If staying in one of Murphys Point Provincial Park’s cabins or glamping units, you’ll need to bring your own bedding, kitchen basics (like pots, pans, and dishes), along with your own food and personal items.
- History buffs can sign up for a guided tour of the Silver Queen Mine (the park supplies the hardhats!) and also visit the resorted McParlan House, the location of an 1800s sawmill and now a registered archaeological site within the park.
