Come and experience a private campsite on a small hobby farm in the Shuswap. Chickens, Turkeys, Geese, Ducks and Peacocks roam the property. Approximately 1/3 acre fenced complete with a bath house and hot shower. Hook ups for your RV are available for water, sewer and 50amp power. Laundry is also available. Perfect spot for a group camp or family. Room available for 2 RV's If one site is booked and the other is not required it will be blocked off to provide a private camping experience. We are a short drive away from beaches and boat launches. Shuswap marina is a 5 min drive. Hiking trails are all over the area. 20 minutes to Salmon Arm and 45 minutes to Kamloops. A very remote, tranquil log cabin fishing camp hand-built in the 1960's. Akehurst Lake Wilderness Resort is only accessible by ATV (snowmobile in winter) or by foot (a 9-minute walk from the parking lot). There is no public access to the lake so it is wonderfully private & peaceful. We offer 5 cabins in total with some areas suitable for tents. There is a day-lodge with a kitchen and eating area for guest's use, kayaks, row boats, and a paddle board free for use as well as a wood-fired sauna! The lake is excellent for swimming. It is feet-friendly, shallow, and has no sudden drop-offs. And if you like to hike, fish or BOTH then this is the place for you. There are many nearby lakes that are a short drive/ride and hike away! Akehurst Lake does not have cell service or wifi. Lights are made possible by a gas generator in the evening. There is only cold running water in the day-lodge sink which is seasonal and depends on if the creek is running. Guests should be comfortable being in the woods and aware that if no one else is there, they will need to light the stove and fridge and operate the generator if needed. **Packing List** - Bedding (sheets & blankets or sleeping bag. Pillow covers) - Extra pillows (we provide 2 per cabin. Ask if more are available before arrival) - Towel/face cloth - Dish cloth & Dish towels - Paper towel/napkins - Toilet rolls - Lighter for fires (if applicable). Ours tend to all go missing or stop working - Flashlight - Drinking water - Cooler & ice You are welcome to create your own outdoor kitchen at your cabin, but we do ask you to be mindful of removing items from the day lodge that those using the kitchen might be counting on. ***We cannot stress this enough**: This is very remote. It is truly another world up there and we cannot be there at all times so it is a good idea to have some knowledge and experience in off-grid/backcountry living!

It is located in Kamloops Country in the Thompson Okanagan region of British Columbia. This is a small, friendly community, located only 45 minutes north of Kamloops, that has all the major conveniences of a city but offers a life of quiet, relaxed living. Surrounded by rolling, forest-covered mountains, the local scenery is an excellent example of why British Columbia is known for its spectacular beauty.

You'll be steps away from the water and listening to it lapping on the shore while having everything you need in your renovated Vintage Airstream Argosy 20 (Periwinkle). She comfortably sleeps 2 but could accommodate a family of 3-4 with small children only (max of 2 adults). Periwinkle has a full dry bath and kitchen with outdoor furniture, bbq, coffee machine, cooking supplies, linens and toiletries all provided. You will have 450' of private lakefront and an amazing lawn area for outdoor games all covered by the soft glow of yard lights magically suspended above. Periwinkle is located in a protected bay on the North Shore of Shuswap Lake next to a bird sanctuary. It is approx. 30min off of Hwy 1. 15 min from a full grocery store with liquor, full service restaurants, bowling alley and mini golf and 5 min from corner stores and a winery with the golf courses being 15 or 30 min away. There are numerous hiking trails, gorgeous waterfalls and beaches within an hours drive by car or boat. There is lots of exploring to do in the area. Bring your boat or just lie around on the beach with a great book and a cool drink.

What a fun place to camp, especially if you love cider! Easy check in at the cidery (not sure how checkin works if you arrive after it’s closed). Would definitely come back! Fun camping beside a field of sunflowers! Only draw back is you to hear the hwy but the orchard camping is fab!

Positives: Great wifi, pristine washrooms/showers, site 4 nice river view, friendly/helpful hosts who allowed us a late checkout so we could ride the bike trails before leaving, happily charged the trailer and filled up the water tank before heading back off grid. Slight negative: a little close to the road (but did not disturb sleep), sites have no privacy from each other, expensive (but our views are warped as we had been camping for free/$7.50/max of $35 per night till this point and this was our treat/regroup/check emails/refill/repower night)

Chris was a very friendly host; we booked last minute but he was able to accommodate us and was very welcoming. The sign for the campsite was a little tricky to find in the dark, but I’m sure during the day this would be easier. We enjoyed the outdoor shower too!

The grounds provide a place to pull off for the night and very close to amenities of Salmon Arm. The bathrooms were clean and wifi was available on the patio of the tasting room. We stayed at Site 5 backing on to the apple orchard. We didn't hear the traffic however we were in a truck camper. We would stay again. Great cider too..
