With over 3km of creek frontage and 100+ acres of untouched native bushland, there are ample options for campsites to suit just about anyone. All campers must be completely self-contained, with their own camp toilet, and take all waste when they go. The original name of this property is Wooraba which is an aboriginal word for 'hidden' which describes it very well. Here, you will immerse yourself in the Australian bush and enjoy a truly peaceful retreat. Enjoy fantastic bushwalks amongst the native flora and fauna, or take your mountain bike to the high open hilly area to check out the expansive views. Or lay in some of the creek's rock pools and sunbathe. Whilst we can accept dogs, this absolutely must be discussed with us prior to booking. We are a working farm, with sheep, and it is important that any visiting pets do not hassle our sheep, and are kept on a lead at all times. Campfires are permitted in the designated fire pit when conditions allow and no local fire bans are in play.

Once part of a huge thriving farmstead with lots of local history, a secret Bushrangers grave and scattered gold deposits are rumoured to be hidden amongst the snow gums. Descendants of the original landowners still live in nearby Heritage listed Braidwood. We have 104 acres of beautiful and varied terrain with fabulous rolling views. During your stay enjoy our amazing bird life, kangaroos, wallabies, possibly echidnas, rosenburgs, wombats and even deer. Guests are required to be fully self sufficient with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste with them on departure. Campfires are welcome permitting there are no restrictions in place at the time of your stay. This is the ideal location to just relax and enjoy nature at its finest. On a clear night the stars are amazing. We are only an hour from Canberra situated halfway between the picturesque towns of Braidwood and Bungendore, both within 20 mins away. Sorry, no pets.

This property is in Northangera with the Mongarlowe River running along the boundary. It's covered in trees and provides a pristine environment amongst the "Scribbly Gums". It has flat areas with plenty of free timber for the designated fire pits. I have tried to create a haven for wildlife including Kangaroos, wombats, echidnas and platypus. I cherish the cleanliness of the river and surrounds and wish to be able to share this special environment with others who care to preserve all it offers. You can explore the property along the tracks, paddle, swim or fish in the river, enjoy the fauna, wildlife and birdlife. Located not far from Braidwood, a town steeped in history, with good shopping, coffee shops and great food. Sloping to flat land amongst the Scribbly Gum trees offering a number of sites and walks through the property. It provides both sun and shade. Access is good for vans of any size along a track through the bushland. Lovely swimming spots in the Mongalowe River, beautiful clear water, and several lovely bushwalks around the property. There is only Telstra reception available in this area. We offer 7 different sites and the maximum stay is 7 nights.

This is High Country camping one hour from Canberra. Bordering the Tallaganda National Park, this camping is set on 100 acres of rural land with a sense of remoteness with a sealed road access only 1 km away.This property is not farm. You will only share it with the wildlife that includes numerous kangaroos that come in from the National Park in the evening to feed. The principal camping place (The Park) is situated next the park boundary and provides space for two tents or a tent and camper trailer. The rest of the camping is on “The Range”. This is a perfect place to chill and enjoy the beauty of the countryside which includes stunning sunsets over the Tinderry mountains. If you want to explore there is walking in the park or visits to The Big Hole, the water wheel at Lowden Forest Park and the old mine at Captains Flat.A flush toilet and drinking water is situated external to the cottage on the property (located 120 metres from "The Park" site). Nearest mobile phone reception is at Captains Flat but phone and internet is available at the Abbey.

Excellent spot, setup and hosts. Kylie and Anthony made us feel more than welcome and we will be back… we got home and my kids asked if we could go back tomorrow…. That’s a good review! Haha Words are hard…. Go and check it out. It’s the only way to experience this one! If ya don’t like it…. Go back to the caravan parks…. It’s not a caravan park… its living at its best! The accommodation growth plan sounds awesome, enough space for growth with no effect to the experience. Adding toilets does change the type of people…. That’s my only feedback…. But in saying that 7days on a portapotty with 4 x people…. It was full!! Just means you can stay longer…. Which isn’t a major problem to have! Get out there!

We enjoyed our 3 night stay on Spring Creek Farm. Bill was a great host and guided us to our site on arrival. Peaceful spot with panoramic views of the country side, out in the open but private. Lots of firewood around and we caught a glimpse of the resident wombat.

Quiet, private and surrounded by bushland. The river was accessible easily. We were fortunate to grab the last one of only 5 sites during the busy post-Xmas period. Loved staying here! Highly recommend if you love simple secluded bush camping.

This was my second time camping here, and I really enjoy this place. It’s very peaceful and ideal for a relaxing escape. The only drawbacks are that the toilet is quite far, there’s no drinking water available, and the road is very dusty. Firewood was not permitted during our stay, but we still had a great time overall. A lovely spot for those who come prepared and appreciate quiet, natural surroundings.

"Pumpkin" is a 1976 Franklin Sprite poptop van ideal for a couple with up to 3 children or 4 Adults. The bunk beds are tight so more suitable for children.

Camp site was great. We had a little creek to ourselves to go for a dip, and the big river was just around the corner (could walk or drive). Saw so much wildlife! Would definitely recommend going for a walk with a spotlight at night time. We saw eels, tawny frogmouth. Canoes are provided to go up the river. Anthony was a great host. We will be back :)

Good location, close to town, nice and quiet. Did day trip to Batemans Bay, and Mongarlowe River where the kids kayaked from under the bridge. Never met the hosts. But had visits from a friendly dog, Guinea fowl and a beautiful white peacock. Would have loved to have a look in the woolshed and would be amazing to see it up and running as a restaurant again, block currently for sale.

The place is easy to access and being closer to Canberra being a first time camper my apprehension was less as I knew I can come back anytime. Waking up to the kangaroos, ducks and Rabbits right next to the tent was an amazing experience. The toilets being nearby was a comfort.

When to go

The best time to visit Talawahl State Conservation Area is during the milder months of spring and autumn, when the weather is pleasant for outdoor activities. Summer can be quite warm, making early morning or late afternoon the ideal times for exploration. Winter brings cooler temperatures, perfect for brisk walks and wildlife spotting without the heat.
