Drive just 14 miles from civilization (Fargo, ND/Moorehead, Minnesota) and Buffalo River State Park will welcome you with open arms to another world. One of Minnsota’s finest and largest remnant prairies, Buffalo River State Park is home to bobolinks, prairie chickens, marbled godwits and upland sandpipers and offers us human folk a picnic area, beach, and endless hiking and cross country trails. The campground, nestled deep in the woods, includes group, drive-in and RV sites.

Buffalo River is a great little spot for a weekend camp. Amenities are true to a traditional state park plus an awesome swim pond. There are a few miles of trails all pretty easy treks to be made in under and hour, easy for groups or children.
I frequently make day trips out to Buffalo River. It is wonderful!
