We have two properties on the beautiful South Shore of Lake Superior in Port Wing, WI. At our lakefront property, we have 700' of shoreline and access to our private sand beach, perfect for swimming and bonfires!
At our forest property, we have 68 acres of private trails weaving through the woods. Over the next few years, we'll be building more sites throughout our property to offer private, secluded lodging in a natural setting. We are planning to open up our first few sites in July 2024.
The South Shore offers a bounty of activities and is much less crowded than the North Shore. Nearby, there are hiking trails, waterfalls, skiing, kayaking, paddling, ATV trails, and much more. Port Wing is halfway between Duluth/Superior and Bayfield, so it's the perfect spot to stay and visit all the South Shore sights!Enjoy a spectacular view of Lake Superior from your tent, as well as easy access to the lakeshore and private beach below. Our wildflower site was was recently replanted with native grasses and wildflowers (after our shoreline restoration project) and should make a soft bed underneath your tent.
2024 UPDATE: lake levels are LOW this year, so we have a huge stretch of sandy beach this year!
TENTS ONLY / NO VEHICLES This a walk-in site only. We receive numerous messages every year asking if we allow vehicle access to the campsite (for vans, truck tents, trailers, etc). Due to the native plantings for our bluff restoration (anti-erosion) project, we cannot allow vehicles to drive on the lawn.
Beach Access: On both sides of the site, there are trails down to the shoreline. They can be quite steep and slippery at times, so please exercise caution when using it. There are a few boulders that we use as steps at the bottom of the trail, which can be tricky to navigate, so it may be difficult for young kids or people with limited mobility. While the campsite itself is wheelchair accessible, the beach access is not.
Toilet: We will have a portable restroom available on site starting May, 2024.
Fires: Bonfires can be held on the beach whenever the fire danger level is low. Our private beach is almost always sandy, so it's a great place to sit around the fire.
However, Lake Superior has quite a personality, so sometimes the sand disappears and there are rocks instead! If you walk a bit further toward the creek, you might find a bigger sandy area back by the mouth of the creek. And if you're into rock hunting, you can find agates on the beach!
Electrical: We have an outdoor extension cord that can be used for electricity.
EV Charger: We have a ChargePoint Level 2 charger you can use to charge your vehicle!
Grill: Feel free to use the grill on our deck.
