Our humble homestead sits on five beautiful acres of combined oak forest and wildflower prairie in a region of Washington state so renowned for its recreational opportunities that it's referred to as "Sportsman's Paradise".
We're just getting started here, but have big plans for establishing a self-sustaining intentional community centered around teaching visitors about primitive skills such as hide-tanning, herbalism, wilderness survival, and wildlife tracking; as well as important modern homesteading skills like managing a composting toilet system, growing gardens, setting up alternative power sources, and raising livestock.
We have the astounding privilege to live within just 20 minutes of the Columbia River Gorge, world-famous for its numerous fishing, wind-sports, and adventuring opportunities. This is a region famous also for big game hunting (deer, elk, bear, cougar), wild-foraging of edible mushrooms (morels, in particular), wineries, art museums, and more!
Located just a 10-minute drive from the heart of Goldendale, Washington, you can enjoy the seclusion of our land while remaining close to restaurants, bars, grocery stores, laundry service, a community pool, mechanics services, and many other amenities.

Fires are allowed, but Goldendale has enacted very strict fire bans from May to late October to prevent the risk of field and forest fires. It is imperative to honor these bans, as they act to protect not only our homestead, but also Goldendale's farming/homesteading community at large. Propane cooking appliances are permitted year-round, but we ask that they be utilized only in marked areas.

Service and therapy dogs are welcome, but must remain on-leash whenever possible. We have several large-breed high-drive dogs on the property who are securely contained at all times, but our boys can be picky about introductions to other dogs. As such, we discourage canine companions aside from task-trained service and therapy canines.

PROS: The location was nice and private. Sarah was a very responsive host. the animals were wonderful. Propane grill and picnic table available made cooking a breeze.
CONS: We didn't realize how rough the roads into the homestead would be. My Nissan Sentra did just fine, but not appropriate for a low clearance vehicle. The pond was only seasonal and since we went in the dry season it had evaporated!

I was lucky to have the camp area to myself. I slept under the stars - no tent needed. I got the tour of the homestead which enabled me to see all the animals. It was a great spot, I liked the privacy and the picnic table area was a short walk and very nice. The bathroom is also a short walk. I’ll stay there again if I decide to revisit the Goldendale area.

We had a hard time finding the place, the town doesn’t recognize the address, so our gps only brought us to the street but once we got there, it was pretty neat and a cool experience. I’d stay there again if I’m in that neck of the woods.

Lovely and welcoming
Sarah was a fantastic host. She showed us around and allowed us to get involved with the farm. Her animals are lovely. The camp site is basic but perfect for what we needed. There is a toilet and a shower as well as a fire pit area with propane barbecue available. Sara lives an amazing lifestyle we are envious of and is so welcoming. We would stay here again and recommend it to others.
