Nomadic camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Welcome to your next tranquil getaway! Nestled right along the North Fork of the Skykomish River near the town of Index, this cozy campsite is the perfect place to relax around a campfire and surround yourself with the serene nature of the Pacific Northwest. Fall asleep to the gentle roar of the river with a belly full of freshly-roasted marshmallows. Spend the day hiking nearby trails, fishing in the river, exploring the quaint town of Index, climbing massive walls of rock, or simply cozying around the fire away from the stresses of modern life. This property features a small tent site surrounded by massively majestic evergreen trees. There is also a gravel parking spot big enough for 2-3 cars or 1 car and a camper/van. A fire pit and 2 chairs are provided, as well as a porta-potty which is cleaned and sanitized weekly. There is no water or electricity on the property, but it is < 1 mile to the town of Index. Being along the river also means being along the train route that travels through Index. It rumbles by occasionally. The river drowns out most of the sound, but sensitive sleepers may want to consider bringing ear plugs :) The site is close to many attractions: Index Town – < 1 mile Outdoor Adventure Center (river rafting, kayak & e-bike rentals) – < 1 mile Heybrook Ridge Trailhead – < 1 mile Lake Serene & Bridal Veil Falls Trailhead – 1 mile Index Wall – 2 miles Skyland Ranch Horseback Riding – 7 miles Wallace Falls Trailhead – 10 miles Blanca Lake Trailhead – 16 miles Deception Falls – 21 milesThis site is roughly 50' x 200' and includes private river beach access, a tent spot near the river, a campfire area on the riverbank with views of the Index Wall, and a gravel parking pad with space for 2-3 cars OR 1 car and a camper/van. The site is beautifully wooded with a walking path winding through it. A portable toilet with toilet paper and sanitizer is also included. No water/electricity on the property. Please note that although you have access to the entire property, there may be neighbors camping nearby on the adjacent lots. However, you can rest assured the camp location is placed with maximum privacy in mind.

We had a great time winter camping on Gunnar's Riverside Property. The instructions for locating the property were very easy to follow even in the dark. The site was clean, quiet, and very peaceful. In addition, the views are amazing and the sound of the stream made for a great nights sleep. Highly recommend.

It was rainy but the overhead tree cover kept us from getting wet. It was really nice to fall asleep to the sound of the river! Gunnar was responsive and helpful. Would definitely come back again.

The site was great, right next to the river with a great view of the index wall. There was an open area with a fire pit. It started to rain later in the evening, but the tree coverage was great over the camp fire area. Some train noise happened at night, but didn't notice it once asleep. Overall, would recommend!
