Lovely vintage trailer
Love this place! So cute and quiet. Very relaxing. We loved watching the deer run around at night. Stayed to visit the Ape Caves and Lower Lewis River Falls. David is a wonderful host and showed us everything we needed to know about staying in the 1950’s trailer. It has heat and ac which we used both. Heat in the am to warm up the trailer and just once for the afternoon when we got back and it was a little warm.

David’s vintage trailer is gorgeous and the attention to detail is very impressive. Our family of four loved our stay. Lake Merwin is only 1 minute by car. The trailer and grounds are lovely and the perfect place to unwind after a day of paddling and swimming. We would all love to return for another visit.

U Must Stay Here!
With kids
This HipCamp is a must-stay! David’s painstaking restoration of the camper shows off his artistry and his attention to detail is worthy of an award. It’s a tunnel of time travel, oozing coziness with a nostalgic vibe. So many nice flourishes too. Loved the retro camper zines, Mt St Helen’s photo essays, and the Nat Geo’s transported all the way from 1950. My crew and I appreciated all the modern conveniences too like AC, a microwave, and very good Wifi. The Blue Tooth record player was a hit. I woke my kids in the morning to rock and roll and jazz from…the 1950’s, of course! The roaring campfire we made at night was part and parcel to the cozy package. S’mores galore for sugar addicted young’uns. While my crew slept in, I sipped a steaming cup o’ jo in the early a.m. with peace and tranquility as my only companions. This joint is a mandatory stop in your journey. Don’t miss out!

Vintage joy
David’s adorable 1950s Alma trailer is a labor of love. Beautifully restored with modern conveniences (Bluetooth turntable, WiFi, AC, induction hot plate, awesome bed) and thoughtful touches (vintage trailer zines, cool artifacts), it’s a perfect place to unwind. A total pro, he thought to even put a canopy over the trailer so the afternoon sun won’t heat up the trailer any more than necessary. The fan-powered ceiling vents also pull out any hot air. The screened windows all open and you get the best cross drafts of cool evening air coming from the stands of forest around you. Trailer design was just better then. Certainly more aesthetic! The site is in a level clearing with a well-maintained lawn that’s lovely to walk barefoot through. You definitely see a few neighboring houses but that wasn’t ever a problem for us, as everyone in the neighborhood has at least an acre or so between them. The birdsong is enchanting and the rooster is also a gentle sound in the morning. We had such magical evenings listening to music and playing cards. This was a special memory for us! Thanks, David. You’ve nailed this!
