Eucalyptus bell tent at Thornbush Glamping offers a great way to experience an under-canvas holiday in Pembrokeshire—without any of the hard work. This is a bell tent that’s not only been put up for you but has also been beautifully furnished and well equipped for your stay. You can enjoy life outdoors with campfires and lovely rural scenery but you’ll also have the comfort of sleeping in a proper bed. And it’s one that’s in a lovely spot between the handy hub of Haverfordwest and the beautiful beaches of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park.
Thornbush Glamping is a small off-grid site based on a farm with just a couple of bell tents and a couple of pitches for people who want to pitch their own. But it’s in a big field so everyone has plenty of space. There’s also shared access to well-kept compost loos, hot water showers and a campers’ kitchen, all built in rustic little cabins that have made good use of reclaimed materials from around the farm. The bell tents, too, have some upcycled furniture. Here, it’s more homely with furniture matched to colourful bedding, bunting and bits and bobs that might give you inspiration for your bedroom at home. There’s practical stuff too: torches, tea and coffee-making kit, pots, pans, and a camping gas stove for use outside of your tent if you don’t fancy cooking on the campfire.
Of course, you might not fancy cooking at all and, in that case, despite the rural setting, there are options not too far away. Ye Olde Inn is the closest place—a mile or so down the road, but there’s plenty more in Haverfordwest, the surrounding countryside and over on the coast. It’s most likely the coast that you’ve come for—and who could blame you? The campsite is just five miles inland from Nolton Haven, a beach that’s in the middle of the beautiful St Bride’s Bay. Little Haven, Broad Haven, Newgale, and Solva are others you might want to explore, all within 10 miles. St David's is just a little over that.

The beach here is a small, sheltered unspoilt cove. For somewhere with sand and more facilities try Newgale (six miles). At low tide it’s sandy and there’s surf hire and lessons available here too. For more of that, Broad Haven (seven miles) is another option – where kitesurfing is popular too. At the top of St Bride’s Bay is St David’s, the UK’s smallest city (14 miles). This pretty village-sized city is well worth a visit to see the famous cathedral and Bishop’s Palace. You can also take wildlife-watching boat trips from here to see dolphins and seabird colonies.
You have all the equipment you need to cook on site and there are plenty of shops in and around Haverfordwest, including supermarkets, where you can pick up supplies for campsite cooking. There’s also plenty of cafes, pubs and restaurants there. The closest place for food or drink out, is Ye Olde Inn (about a mile from the campsite) but there are others nearby too: The Pelcomb Inn and The Rising Sun (both about two miles) are between the campsite and Haverfordwest and, in the other direction, towards the coast is The Victoria Inn Brewhouse (four miles) where you can enjoy craft beers brewed on site as well as dinner or lunch.
