This traditional, 29-acre, cliff-top dairy farm at Druidston is a breathtaking, back-to-basics site ideal for those exploring the Pembrokeshire coast

In a region with no shortage of stunning views, the panoramic vistas over St Brides Bay enjoyed from Shortlands Farm are really quite spectacular. The Ledwith family's traditional 29-acre farm at Druidston is a breathtaking, back-to-basics site that makes the ideal camp for those exploring this unspoilt fringe of West Wales. There's a refreshingly laid–back feel to the site – 16 pitches spaced around the edge of a large field with sea views". Perched atop the cliffside, exposed to the elements, there's no better place to watch the sun descend over the Irish Sea.

Distant enough from St Davids (20 minutes away) to avoid the crowds with secluded Druidston Haven just 10 minutes away, Shortlands is also enviably located for the Pembrokeshire Coast Path – accessible from a bridleway at the bottom of the farm. From your tent you can wander across, hop on the trail and stroll down the slope to a large, tidal beach, or walk the two-and a-half miles south to Broad Haven and Little Haven where there are further beaches and a clutch of sea-front pubs and cafés.

All in all, Shortlands Farm guarantees a friendly welcome and the perfect base for exploring this unspoilt stretch of one of the world's great coastal walks. As any beleaguered ramblers can attest, Shortland's hosts' hospitality knows no bounds. Kate and family are happy to help and have expert local-knowledge of the best places to go. Not that you need go anywhere. With the best views for miles, Shortlands Farm is a place you’ll want to stick around at.

Non Electric Grass Pitch - Sea View
It was a beautiful spot with amazing views. The toilet block was nice and clean and had all the essentials. The Pembrokeshire coastal path has some amazing walking and this campsite is perfectly situated to access that

Non Electric Grass Pitch - Sea View
Gorgeous campsite in a lovely location! Lots of space for our tent and surroundings, and views of the coast. Nice and quiet with only a few families / couples, and clean facilities. Will absolutely stay here again if we head to Pembrokeshire!

Spacious grass pitch
Overall, a good stay at this campsite with some beautiful coastal views and within a very short walk to the coastal path. Plenty of space and privacy for each pitch. The facilities were clean and adequate, but felt a little basic for the cost. It was pretty windy every night and wet for a couple during our stay - obviously risk of rain is a part of camping, but I expect the wind is fairly constant at this site given the coastal location.

Secluded sunset over sea haven
Off the beaten track this campsite is pure heaven. The pitches are big so you get a real private feel. The view is outstanding with spectacular sunsets and moonrise over the sea. Fire pits are provided at every pitch. The facilities are spot on with a unisex toilet and shower block including hot showers and freezer space for your ice blocks. Washing up area is always clean with recycling facilities. Dogs have a wonderful holiday here too 🧡🐾 Location is awesome with a 15 min walk to the wonderful Druidstone beach. Be sure to stop at the Druidstone hotel for a beer to watch the sunset. Food here is great too - make sure you book!! Kate is there if you need her which every time I’ve been there I’ve not had to as everything is so well managed in a hands off manner. Looking forward to our next visit already ⛺️🌅 🌊

Shortlands Farm, Druidston, Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, SA62 3NE Camping at Shortlands Farm is a friendly and laid back experience. We don’t have tons of rules, we just ask you to respect your fellow guests and keep noise to a minimum after 10pm. We are off the beaten track and cater mainly to families, couples and small groups of friends who enjoy a busy day of beach activities followed by a hot shower, BBQ, and an evening socialising with friends or family. Shortlands Farm is a family-friendly site and we welcome well-behaved dogs on leads. We have two camping fields, and one Caravan and Motorhome Club Certificated Location (members only) - all with sea views: Field one: 16 NON-ELECTRIC camping pitches for tents and small vans (no motorhomes/caravans) over one large field. Pitches are round the edge of the field which leaves space in the centre of the site for children – and adults – to play and form firm friendships. Field two: 8 ELECTRIC hook-up camping pitches for tents and vans/motorhomes (no caravans). These pitches are a bit further from the facilities (a walk across field one) for a more peaceful camping experience. The pitches are mown into the long grass to give a little more privacy and seclusion. Field three: 5 CARAVAN AND MOTORHOME CLUB Certificated Location pitches for members of the CAMC only. These pitches have electric hook-up and are closer to the facilities. The dramatic and dog friendly beach at Druidston Haven is a 15 minute walk away, and Broad Haven with its beach, shops, pubs, cafes and surf hire is a 45 minute stroll along the coast path. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is a stone’s throw from the campsite. No visit to Shortlands Farm campsite would be complete without an evening of sitting round a campfire (a fire pit is provided on every camping pitch, but not on the CAMC CL) enjoying the incredible sunsets over St Brides Bay, followed by some stargazing. Non-electric camping is £12 per person per night, under 6s are free. Electric camping is £17.50 per person per night, under 6s are free. Caravan and Motorhome Club Electric CL (members only) is £12 per person per night, under 6s are free. During school holidays we operate a 3 night minimum stay. Each pitch is for up to 4 people but please but email us on info@shortlandsfarm.co.uk if you have any questions about this as we may be able to add to your booking.
Nearby attractions

Access to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path is 5 minutes from the farm. There are plenty of stunning beaches in the area too, with Druidston Haven the nearest, just a 10-15 minute stroll away. The medieval ruins and seaside charm of St Davids (Britain's smallest city!) is a 20 minute drive away. You'll find a wealth of aquatic activities to partake in here including coasteering, sea kayaking and, of course, surfing. For something a little more sedate, The Gallery at Oriel-Y-Parc is worth a visit, while a boat trip to Ramsey Island (01437 721 721) is also an unforgettable experience.

Food and drink

For fish and chips, The Shed (01348 831 518) in Porthgain takes some beating. The Really Wild Emporium in St Davids is the pick of the bunch for inventive, locally foraged dishes. The Druidstone Hotel (01437 781 221) restaurant boasts a decent menu of home-cooked dishes and some enviable views overlooking St Brides Bay, booking essential. The bar at The Druidstone Hotel is for guests and members only. MamGu Welshcakes in St Davids Cathrdral refectory serves delicious traditional and inventive welsh cakes, as well as dishes like cawl and their famous crempogs. For quaint little Pembrokeshire pubs, make the short trip to The Ship Inn (01437 721 247) at Solva – a CAMRA-award winning, harbourside – or The Cambrian Inn (01437 721210) also in Solva. For supplies, the nearest shop is Nolton Cross Farm Shop. In Broad Haven - either 5 minutes by car or a 40 minute walk along the coast path - there is a well stocked Londis with post office.
