Garej Mynytho is on the edge of the village of Mynytho, about three miles by road (less as the crow flies), from the popular seaside village of Abersoch. You can walk out onto common land close to the campsite with Foel Fawr and Foel Gron two peaks to head for offering good views. On the coast, you can join the Wales Coast Path if you fancy a walk with sea views. The closest place to join it, or to hit the beach, is Llanbedrog where the sand is backed by colourful beach huts. There’s a dog-friendly section here too. Abersoch has two beaches and opportunities for watersports but if it’s surfing you’re here for, head four miles to Hell’s Mouth. When the wind is blowing in the right direction, the water off the long sandy stretch here is great for surfing. There’s a National Trust houses and gardens, Plas Rhiw, nearby too. The coastal village of Aberdaron (11 miles) is another seaside village, that’s a bit quieter than Abersoch but still with kayaking on offer. There are also boat trips to wildlife-rich Bardsey Island from there. The edge of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park is about 20 miles away, just over half an hour’s drive.
