This rural Carmarthenshire campsite manages to be both in the middle of nowhere and the middle of everything you might want to visit in south Wales. Situated on a smallholding with an on-site tearoom, its location lies between the mountains of the Brecon Beacons and the sea. It’s close enough to both for day trips and far enough from anywhere to be peaceful. By day, you might hear sheep in nearby fields and by night it’ll just be owls hooting as you toast marshmallows on your campfire.
It’s the stuff of a classic farm campsite – and that’s what you can expect from here. There’s no club house, no electric hook up and no reception building: it’s simply a place to pitch your tent or park up in a campervan or motorhome. There’s a compost loo and a drinking water tap in the two-acre field which never gets too crowded, thanks to a sensible 15 unit limit. Clear signs direct you in and you’re welcome to find your own place to pitch as nothing is marked out here.
Host Andy will likely pay you a visit to see if you need firewood or a fire pit later or you can wander over to the tearoom to say hello and, perhaps, book in for tomorrow’s breakfast or lunch. It's a great option if you don’t fancy cooking but don't want to get in the car. The animals on site will help keep the kids amused: cute pygmy goats, chickens, and ducks, with horses grazing in neighbouring fields. There’s a great walk with cracking views straight from the site: a circular route taking in the peak of nearby Mynydd Llangyndeyrn. But, in truth, the glory of this site is its location in central south Wales. It’s not too far off the A48, so relatively easy to get to and from here you can visit so much. Llandeilo, the Brecon Beacons, Tenby, the Gower Peninsula and even Swansea itself are all within an hour’s drive.
Beautiful Open field. Sheltered pitches along the treeline, max 15 pitches. Unallocated. Beautiful composting toilet (no shower yet but it's on it's way). Fresh water tap.
