A bell tent with a great location in Snowdonia National Park

This bell tent is pitched on a pleasant riverside campsite within walking distance of Betws-y-Coed village, known as the Gateway to Snowdonia and Eryri National Park. The location is a dream for outdoor lovers and the pre-pitched bell tent is a real blessing as it means you have more room in the car for all your gear. You might want to bring mountain bikes to hit the MTB trails in the neighbouring Gwydir Forest, to bring kayaks if you’re headed for North Welsh white water, or climbing gear for the high peaks. Or perhaps you’ll simply bring your walking boots to head out on a hike. Whatever you’re heading to Eryri for, this is a good base offering great views and a location within walking distance of everything you’ll need to fuel your adventures.

Based on Cwmlanerch Campsite, the bell tent is the only glamping on offer. It’s a simple set up but a comfortable one; a five-metre bell tent with a double bed and two camping mats for kids. You provide the bedding. There’s a picnic bench and a fire pit outside too. You share facilities with the bring-your-own brigade on what is a fairly easy-going but traditional campsite; that means flushing loos, hot showers, and a place to do the washing up, as well as a laundry and communal freezer for your ice packs. That’s particularly handy as the bell tent is off grid.

You need to bring your own cooking kit—including a stove unless you want to cook on the provided off ground fire pit. But, of course, there is one more option: head out for lunch and dinner. And, with Betws-y-Coed a 20-minute walk along forest footpaths away, that’s easy enough. It’s a pleasant trip and the village, with its setting on the River Conwy and its Alpine feel, is a nice place both for dining out and for picking up supplies. Its nickname, the Gateway to Snowdonia, should give you the idea that it’s well connected to everywhere you might want to visit. Riverside walks to waterfalls are just outside, Gwydir Bach MTB Trails are two miles away, Surf Snowdonia is seven miles and Snowdon itself is just 11 miles from your bell tent.

Enjoy breathtaking views of Snowdonia from the beautiful Betws-y-Coed Bell Tent, situated on the peaceful Cwmlanerch Campsite along the river Conwy and adjacent to our family working farm. No need to pitch up a tent, just bring your duvets/sleeping bags and pillows with you! Suitable for 2 adults and 2 children. Provided is a king size mattress (no bedding) as well as 2 camping matts for children. Only a 2 minute drive (or short walk) from the picturesque village of Betws-y-Coed.

Nearby attractions

Betws-y-Coed Bell Tent is a mile outside of the village of Betws-y-Coed. The village has plenty of outdoor shops, places to eat and drink, the Conwy Valley Railway Museum and a tourist information centre too which will point you in the right direction for whichever activities you’re after. Adventurous activities like coasteering, climbing and gorge walking are available through North Wales Active who are based in the village. Conwy and Swallow Falls are also on the outskirts of the village and the Gwydir Forest surrounds it. The popular Gwydir Mawr a Bach (formerly the Marin Trail) is a challenging MTB route just two miles from the campsite. There’s also adventure in the trees thanks to the Zip Fforest Coaster (three miles) and more dramatic fun from the Zip family with Zip World Titan, Bounce Below and Zip World Velocity all within 13 miles. Surf Snowdonia, a man-made, surf lagoon is seven miles from site. But it’s mostly the natural wonders that make this national park special; there’s plenty of great walking, cycling and climbing – including the popular routes up Snowdon, Wales’ highest mountain, 11 miles from the campsite.

Food and drink

You can walk from Betws-y-Coed Bell Tent into the village in 20 minutes or drive there in less than five. The town has small but well-stocked grocery shops, a good bakers and a delicatessen too. There are also plenty of cafes, pubs and restaurants to choose from including The Royal Oak which serves good food all day. Try The Alpine Coffee Shop for coffee and cake that’s all homemade and ethically sourced.
