Sustainable farming on third generation family land.Welcome to Rocky Run Farm Sustainable Share sites. We are a seasonal, best practices farm located in the quiet, scenic foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We are near Old Rag Mountain, Skyline Drive, and the quaint villages of Sperryville and Madison. Our easy access, drive up (weather permitting) sites allow for tenting, car camping, and small rv's starting at $33 per night. All sites are primitive.  No pump out facilities.  Please pack all trash out with you.  Electricity via generator and firewood available on site for a small fee.  All wheel drive vehicles recommended. Remote wooded sites are also available where you can be completely removed from all other campers.  You will be guided to these sites and an all wheel drive vehicle is required. Stay along side babbling Rocky Run, next to the wood's edge, among the raised beds, or on a secluded hillside. All sites are very private. Enjoy hiking, biking, and wildlife watching on our 85 private acres of pasture and woodlands with trails and open fields. Deer, wild turkey, rabbits, and squirrel abound. A small herd of cattle graze the upper hillsides. Help out on the farm working the raised "Ruth Stout" beds, hay making, or landscaping and get free stay days. There is always something to do on the farm. We look forward to sharing our blessing with you in a sustainable way.

Set in the serene Virginia countryside, Rocky Run offers campers spacious sites with a touch of privacy. Most reviews rave about the peaceful ambiance, with the gentle sound of the nearby creek and the sight of horses and cows adding to the charm. The location is ideal for those looking to explore Shenandoah National Park, specifically Old Rag, making it a prime spot for nature lovers. While most visitors are pleased with the hospitable hosts and tranquil surroundings, one review mentions that the campground could benefit from better maintenance.

Perplexed at the positive reviews
Tent · With kids
I am quite perplexed about the positive reviews. It’s a fine campsite for a night, but I wouldn’t go back there. It’s not a very well maintained campground.

Great location and close driving distance to some popular trailheads in Shenandoah. Sites are spread out and offer plenty of space. Amenities are as described (few) so come prepared for some real camping.

Great location near SNP, quite spaced out sites with plenty of room. Sites are next to a small stream which gives a nice white noise while sleeping.

Tent camping on a beautiful farm
Tent
Staying here was amazing. We showed up and were greeted with a warm welcome… and a watermelon! The grounds were fantastic- plenty of space between each site. We barely heard anyone else. We set up our site pretty quickly and then got to walk around and explore the farm. Lovely spot, super clean and well maintained. We only got to stay one night and then we left early in the morning (we stayed here to hike Old Rag), but I would 100% come back. And I truly recommend the property to anyone who is passing through or looking for a place for a couple of days. Thank you for sharing your property!!

Spacious, scenic creekside camping
Tent
We loved tent camping here! The campsites were very spread out so it felt like we had a lot of space (great for our pup to run around) and privacy (especially nice when using portable toilet). The sound of the nearby creek was lovely and it was fun to see the cows walking around. The location is nice too -- not too far from Shenandoah. Pro tip: Bring a camp table and chairs because there are no picnic tables (but there is a fire pit). Also, drive up Gobbler Hill for WiFi to map you to your next destination + fill up your containers with potable water. We would definitely stay here again!

Great nights sleep

My friend and I stayed at rocky run for two nights while we hiked in Shenandoah NP. The location was great for day trips in and out. I loved listening to the owls on property at night. The hosts were also very hospitable!
