Oakshire Farm was a wonderful getaway for me and my girlfriend. Very close to the Appalachian Trail as well as a few other spectacular sites and of course the Blue Ridge Parkway. The nearby winery wasn't so bad either 😁. Gwendolyn was super welcoming and Debbie made absolutely sure we had everything (and more!) that we needed. The campsite itself is tucked away and very private and surrounded by a beautiful forest, we had a lot of hikes planned but often opted to just stick around the campsite and bask in the quiet wilderness. Highly recommend staying at Oakshire and we will 100% be back.

We really enjoyed camping at the farm! The campsite was perfect for us. The hosts even brought us out to meet the farm pigs and chickens!

We had a wonderful stay at Oakshire farm! The hosts were extremely welcoming and attentive, making sure that we had everything we needed for an enjoyable night of camping. The campsite was perfect! Secluded and well-maintained, with a large cooler of potable water and plenty of firewood! The outhouse with running water and towels was huge plus. Getting to meet the chicken and pigs was icing on top! There was more in the area that we wanted to do, so we'll have to come back and stay a little longer next time!

Perfect little spot for our family
Tent · With kids
What an unxpected little oasis in this stunning part of Virginia. Gwen and her family could not have been more sweet and welcoming. The cozy camping spot was removed from their little farmhouse, but had everything we needed. They gave us a full 6-gallon jug of water, firewood, and even some fresh vegitables from their garden. Great little compost toilet and sink. Short drive to a fun vineyard, the AT, and the Mount Pleasant Loop which was a perfect hike for the four of us. My boys loved meeting the chickens and dogs on the property. Can't wait to go back!

Oakshire Farm is the place to be!
Tent
What an amazing place to spend a few days to relax in the peace and quiet of your own camping site surrounded by nature in abundance. The tall trees provide shade and privacy but not enough to block the amazing view of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. You can easily walk to the creek, the garden, the wash house, and the animals from your private tent area. The hosts were extremely nice and extremely helpful. They let me sample fresh tomatoes and cucumbers from the garden and gave me a private tour of their farm where they raise pigs and chickens. The Appalachian Trail, Mount Pleasant and Panther Falls are just a short drive and well worth the time and effort to get there. You can also walk to the Ankida Winery at the very end of the road to drink some really great wines and meet some wonderful people. I will definitely return next year!

Hosts were very nice and kept good privacy at the camp site. The site is small but has a picnic table(which we had to try to level out in order to have an even cooking surface as it was very unlevel when we arrived.) Dogs are frequently loud but not harmful. They cannot come into the campsite itself but close to the parking area etc. A lot of thorny brush left around at campsite hopefully will get cleared for next camper. Small fire pit at site. They provided water which was great. 2WD accessible. The area is mountainous and beautiful, fun road to get up to the site in Amherst, VA. And roughly an hour from Shenandoah National Park which is a must see! Similar distance to Polyface Farm, another must see!
