Rio Bravo Ranch is a family owned ranch that borders the Rio Grande and Casa Piedra Road.  We have cultured a love for camping and the outdoors on this ranch as children and young adults.  One day we were sitting on "the backside," enjoying the amazing vistas, solitude and a campfire when the idea came to us that we should share this amazing place with others seeking this type of experience.  We tried to think about what makes camping enjoyable to us - no immediately adjacent campers, a nice fire ring/shade structure, a nice, large tent site and vistas with unobstructed views.  We have incorporated this into our campground design which, when completely finished, will encompass several hundred acres of Chihuahuan desert vistas.  We are also fortunate enough to have a large riparian area on the property.  It is in this area, amongst the 40ft tall cottonwood and willows, we often find Gambel's Quail, Scaled Quail, Javelina and numerous bird species including the occasional turkey.  We would love nothing more than to share this wonderful place, where we grew up, with souls seeking solitude, adventure and inspiration.  Our eastern entrance is just a few miles outside the Big Bend Ranch State Park boundary, conveniently located on Casa Piedra road about 1.6 miles north of FM 170.

Rio Bravo 2
The campsite was great. Secluded but easy to find. The extra amenities were a nice touch and made the experience much easier.

Cool Spot!
The campsite was a little tricky to find (might have been me lol) but once I got there, it was a very cool spot. It was right outside the State Park entrance which was super convenient for me. The campsite itself was clean, and pleasant. I enjoyed that it had a pad for the tent and the awning. I would definitely recommend for someone who needs to stay outside of the state park but wants to be close enough to get there quickly in the morning.

Millions of stars and no neighbours
What a beautiful sight the landscape was to behold from this campsite. I didn't even bother setting up my tent, I slept under the stars for three nights. The directions were easy to follow. The county road leading to the property was well maintained and the drive up from there was a little rocky. There was a shelter, fire ring, porta potty and shower on the site. If I find myself in West Texas again, I will definitely book Rio Bravo.

Great Desert Camping
Great location for visiting BBRSP. Camp site was clean and covered picnic table was great. Highly recommend if you want seclusion in the desert! Lots of stars and quiet…great site to relax after hiking or off-roading in the park.

We loved it! Beautiful solitude but easy to access from Presidio. Good distance for a day trip through Big Bend Ranch Park too. We will return!

La Sierrita @ Rio Bravo Ranch
Views for miles
Had a great time at la sierrita campsite! Nice and quiet with views for miles. Spectacular sunrises and sunsets. Plenty of privacy as the next nearest site (rb2) is a couple hundred yards away. Convenient to Presidio if you want dinner or supplies. Chinati potty was clean. Recommend adding signage designating la sierrita site so as to remove guesswork finding it, but that's a quibble.
